Nice Article......"Playing it Straight: Hidden Motivations

That was an interesting read.

I recently flat ironed my transitioning hair. (first time since October) I ususally look more grown up with my hair straightened or spiraled.

I'm 31 and wearing these cornrows all the time makes me look like I'm in high school. People have even gone as young as 15.

well, I went to a funeral on Saturday with my hair in big flat ironed spiral curls.

And I was still getting the same comment about looking like I'm in high school. I know it's good genes and all and aging gracefully is a blessing but I do often find myself displeased with the comment.

I understand. as a student - people have constantly thought that I was in my 20's - HEY! I am 40!

So - braids and curls can make us look - feel young - I guess.

Interesting article.

I agree with what both Samantha and Mook said about seeming young- I think the curly hair kind of heightens that perception.

As the article said, curly hair seems more playful, too. I just got a promotion and was wondering if I should straighten more to seem more professional. The funny thing is now that I've been wearing my curls more I feel funny without them- I look in the mirror and realize this is how God designed me to be and it kinda works. I feel glam with straight hair, but more fun & flirty with my curls.
