Ladies,
I'm in transition with approx 4.5' NG and 6' of relaxed ends. I have not done a protein treatment EVER! I've never had problems with healthy hair, but during this 7th month of my transition, I'm starting to notice a good amount of breakage.

I'd like to find out thoughts from those who have used Nexxus and/or Aphogee to see what your thoughts on the products are. I'm not a PJ and hope to keep it that way ;) ... So, I thought I'd ask you ladies to give me your honest reviews before I head to the store and buy one or the other with hopes of doing the treatment next week.

Please let me know of pros or cons to either of the 2. ANd of course if there are other suggestions, let me know... I'd prefer something I can pick up from the BS vs. ordering online with shipping charges.

TIA

I've never used Emergencee or Aphogee. I have only used Keraphix which is a mild protein reconstructor.

Pros -
It can be used more often than the stronger ones
It works very well to strengthen the hair

Cons -
I don't know of any

I have used both Emergencee and Aphogee. In my opinion Emergencee is the best. With Aphogee you have to allow that stuff to get hard and after no matter how much I condition and I always deep condition without fail, my hair is still dry as I don't know what. But I don't have that problem with Emergencee. All I do is sit under the dryer with it on high for about 10 minutes and that seems to do the trick.

I am a user of Emergencee - have been for about 2 years. I have VERY FRAGILE hair, and my stylist turned me on to it.

I agree with Adrian that applying it and sitting under the dryer for a few will work wonders, but my stylist suggested applying it and sleeping in it with a plastic cap overnight. THAT really does a great job.

The key is to shampoo and blot the hair dry with a towel, making certain to remove all excess moisture. Next apply the emergencee to the entire head, concentrating more in the really damaged areas. Comb through and then place the plastic cap on. Tie it up and sleep in it over night.

Next day, sit under the dryer with it as usual, wash out, apply a leave in conditioner and style. You should notice a huge difference in your hair.

Is it possible that you're experiencing breakage because of the difference in the two textures??? The protein treatment might help curb or slow the breakage, but your relaxed hair is probably weaker than your natural hence the breakage. I think its a good idea to do a treatment to avoid excess breakage until you eventually cut off your relaxed ends.

I've used both Emergencee and Aphogee, I like aphogee better, but its harder to apply. I get better lasting results with the aphogee. Also, its cheaper and more practical overtime for me.

Emergencee is easier to apply, and in that respect makes it worth a lil more. I dont really notice any profound change in my hair's strength after using this, but many women here have had success with it.

Now, if you dont mind spending a pretty penny... I hghly Recommend DRC-28 by dudleys... It'll run you anywhere from $45-65, but this stuff is easy to apply and IMMEDIATELY strengthens and improves my hair health. this is the absolute best proetin treatment available in my opinion. when i'm broke, i opt for the aphogee though

For my hair, I prefer the Aphoghee to stop breakage. The Emergencee did not do much for my hair (I've tried it at least 5 times).

Pros of Aphoghee: It does halt the breakage in it's tracks.

Cons: You have to deep condition really well after it, preferably with heat. Even when I do that I still have to sleep with leave-in conditioner on overnight and blowdry in the morning. But it works.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try leaving it in over night.

Thanks for all the helpful information. I actually went to find Emergancee and when I couldn't find it I opted for Aphogee. I did the treatment last night of course with the mosturizer follow-up. I used a leave in additionally after my DC.

I don't have fragile hair... It's actually thick, curly and coarse (NG). I'm really not experiencing a huge amount of breakage considering I'm in transition, but I know that since I had not done any protein treatment, it would be important to do so. I personally am transitioning w/o a BC. I know the minor breakage that I'm experiencing is most due to the natural vs. relaxed hair, but when my hair is pressed it's not a big deal. I just didn't want it to get worse before getting better.

Any problems with using Emergancee between Aphogee treatments or would the every 6-weeks with Aphogee be sufficient?

Thanks again!
