Hi ladies, I am soo excited to find this forum! I have about 17" of pretty healthy hair. I just decided to relax it yesterday in the salon and got a nice trim and the works. Its beautiful and the first one I've had in close to 10 years, so I really need some guidance as far as how I should take care of it from here. I have medium thick hair, not too fine or course with a natural wave pattern that is not too tight I guess. I feel one area of my scalp that may have a small scab on it, how do I take care of that? Also what product do you recommend?

I look fwd to getting acquainted with you all, thank in advance!
I'll try to post pics in a bit.

Welcome homegirl!

As for the burn, I would recommend that you put aloe vera (ex. Aloe Vera Gel) on the burn/scab everyday until the area is completely healed. It should heal in a few days. You can get aloe vera gel from the health store. Some other members will be able to offer additional tips but using aloe vera helped me. Good luck :)!

Hello homegirl

Sounds like your hair is pretty healthy so all you'll need to do is keep your scalp clean, deep condition at least once/twice a week and keep your hair moisturized. The scab will eventually go away but keep moisture on that area. I can't really recommend any good shampoos and conditioners because I am still on the hunt myself  but I will recommend ORS replenishing pak as a good Deep conditioner and I like africa's best organics olive oil as a moisturizer....I think you'll like it.

Hopefully some other ladies will give you some more advice/info.

Hey homegirl i trying out biolage these days and i really like the smell. A lot of girls here use aveda. If u do a quick search that thread should come up.

Nice looking hair Homegirl. The scalp burn? Stop touching it, put some triple antibiotic ointment, vitamin E and Emu oil all combined onto the affected area every day. The combo healed my relaxer burn very well in about 10 days with no hair loss. Caring for relaxed hair, moisturize your hair, protect your ends, avoid the sun to your hair, silk scarf at night, satin pillowcase; I'm a bunner/french braider every day. Treat your hair as though it is damaged and this should help you avoid actual damage.
PS..I use a lot of products in rotation but the best for me are NEXXUS and KERACARE.

Your hair looks great! I suggest you deep condition your hair with every wash alternating b/w a deep moisturizing conditioner and a reconstructive conditioner aka protein conditioner.

You will also want to keep your hair moisturized everyday with a daily moisturizer. I like Organic Root Stimulator (aka ORS) Carrot Oil and Elasta QP Mango Butter.

Make sure to sleep wiht a satin sleep cap or du rag scarf and a satin pillow case on your pillow. If you keep searching the site and use the search engine, you will find a WEALTH of knowledge on techniques, creating a regimen, and great products that give great results. Welcome and please make yourself at home!
