A leave-in is used on damp hair after shampooing or co-washing your hair. A daily moisturizer is used on dry hair daily before or after styling your hair.
Some products can be used as both but it's really hard to say which ones because each product works differently on different people. You just have to experiment to find out what your hair loves.
I just recently tried Jane Carter's Nourishng Cream mixed with Chi Silk Infusion as a daily moisturizer. LOVED IT! I went on to use this combo as my leave-in on damp hair and again LOVED IT!
