Product Junkie Newbie With Questions!

Hi Ladies!! I'm a newbie and I LOVE this forum!!!I've been stalking for about a week and finally paid the 5 bucks so I could post and ask questions. You guys have already turned me into a product junkie!!

In 2 days I bought:

QP Mango Butter
Hollywood Olive Oil Creme
Suave Shampoo (Citrus)
Suave Condition (Citrus)
Suave Humectant Shampoo
Suave Humectant Conditioner
VO5 Contioner
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (to mix with VO5 Conditioner)
Surge 14 Spray
Wild Growth Oil
Aphogee for Damaged Hair
ORS Replenishing Pak
2 bottles Boundless Tresses (oredered on Wednesday)
2 bittles of Biotin
2 bottles of MSM
1 bottle of Flax Seed Oil
1 bottle of Vitamin C (since it MSM depletes it in your system supposedly)
One a Day Multi- vitamin (I'm buying it tommorrow)

I'm broke, but hey, if you ladies say they work, I'll try!! I do have a few questions though:

1.) I want to put in Aphogee. Should I:Apply before I relax (maybe a week) Apply after I wash out relaxer from hair,or wait one week post relaxer. Which one is most effective?

2.) I bought a half wig (I'm so used to wearing a 14 in weave and finally said enough since it broke off alot of my hair, especially my temples and nape :perplexed ) Do you thik the teeth in the wig will end up doing more harm than good?

3.) Are all Humectants the same? (Suave says that it compares to Nexxus Hemectress, is that true for those of you who have tried both?)

4.) How do you change your profile? (Mine says I'm from Afganastan with type 1 hair, mean while I'm in Queens, New York with type 4a relaxed hair! )

Thanks in advance!:)

P.S. I LOVE the fact that women of color can get together and help each other out rather than bash, hate, and bring each other down!! That's what's up!:)

damn girl.. you was NOT playin! lol

1. i believe you can do an aphogee treatment both a week before OR a week or 2 after a relaxer

2. i dont wear wigs, so i dont know...

3. i dont know this one either... but i dont think nexxus and suave are on the same level... if they were... nexxus wouldnt sell for the price it does. JMO.

4. everytime you make a change in ur profile you have to save the chnages or it'll go to default .

Welcome.

Nexxus is the bom!
I have used Suave products a long long long long long itme ago and it is not even close to Nexxus. Probally good for co-washing though. I don't think Suave will be an effective conditioner though. At least not for my thick 3c/4a hair.

I fell in love with this forum too. I have been here for a month. I have gained about 2inches of newgrowth in that short amount of time just by reading the forums and asking questions.

Welcome!:D

1.) I don't know, I've never used Aphogee.

2.) Again, I don't know, I've never worn wigs.

3.) In my opinion, Nexxus Humectress is worlds away from the Suave version, it's much creamier and does a superior job of moisturizing my hair. I like the Nexxus Phyto Organics version, Humectin even better.:)

4.) Go to "user cp" and change your setting. Then select "save".

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Some of the other ladies should respond soon with more information.

Me too. I just got 3 bottles of the Phyto Luxtress Moisture. It is amazing!

Thanks ladies, keep the replies coming!! Seems like I now need to go and get Nexxus Hemectress. Sigh, my wallet will not forgive me for this,:nono: but hopefully my hair will! Oh, and I figured out how to change my profile. Thanks!

Just keep yor receipts and return if you chang yor mind about something. I might have a good website to get the nexxtus not sure but I will check. You can get on ebay 2. i got 3 bottles of the nexxus luxtress for about $20

Yes I do!!vThere a few Ricky stores in the city by my school. So you guys think I should really invest in these? Nexxus Luxtress and Nexxus Humectress? They're that good? Wow. Oh, and the Suave products I bought from Walgreens and from Duane Reade. I doubt they'll let me return. But it's ok. For as long as I have hair, I'll need shampoo and conditioner right? I think I'll just use it up. But question, BSS's accept returns? Won't they look at you funny? Won't they say no?

It is for me, but remember that everyone's hair is different. I am a 3c/4a. I think Nexxus will send you samples if you go to their website and contact them and tell them that you are thinking about switching to their products, or just get a small bottle and find out when the sale ends, that way if you like it you can go back and get a bigger bottle.

You go girl:D and welcome to the forum

 Wow Liz, you became an instant PJ!! I agree with the ladies about Nexxus being the shizzle...Sally's has a generic version and the generic Therappe poo is pretty good, but I buy brand name Humectress.

I was thinking the WGO might be overkill since you have two bottles of BT on the way :look:

Just popping in to say Welcome Aboard and close that wallet!!
Wowwee:eek:  ..you've bought what you need for now, experiment and have fun. The chain drug stores will refund/exchange with receipts but BSS {except SALLY's} will usually only allow credit or exchanges.Start your shampoo and conditioning regimen then check results. I photographed some of my products and there's loads more; I am shocked at my stash..I wish I'd have taken my time to learn more before all the purchases.

Welcome to the forum!!!:) I love your entusiasm and eagerness to learn. I know that you will learn lots from the ladies about growing and maintaining healthy hair.

But like some said before me, slow down on the purchases. I know you are excited to try new things, but if you try too many things at once it will be harder to tell what works for you and what doesn't. I've found that a simple regimen with few products works best for me (but I did have to do some experimenting to learn that).

Plus, some of the best advice about improving your hair comes from better techniques, not just products.

But above all else have fun on your journey. :D Again, welcome!

Welcome! DAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! a sister don't play around. I know the feeling I spent like two hundred dollars when I first join too. I have since learned my lesson. Less is more.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. And yes, I think for now I'll stop..although I've been reading alot about S- Curl being a good mositurizer..hmmm.....:D

Dont feel bad girl since Ive joined I have spent over $250 dollars on my hair...

look at my join date :sekret:

That doesnt even include the $100+ chi iron I bought when I was lurking...

careful with the PJism! some products work great for some but not for others. purchase in moderation because you may not like the product and we don't want you going broke!

welcome to the forum!

Re: Product Junkie Newbie With Questions!

welcome! I was broke too after buying everything i needed to start my hair journey.
Aphogee should be applied right after a relaxer.
I've only used Nexxus Humectress so i don't know Keracare Humecto
to change your profile go to "quick links" at the very top of this page and click on my profile when the drop menu appears.

Welcome to the forum.

I found Nexxus at my local grocery store and Walmart.

Just remember that what works for one person may not work for you. No two people have the same exact regi;)

Happy growing sweetie!!!!
