NEWBIE (currently transitioning, need tips) hair pics inside

Hi everybody my name is Mickey
and I've finally made the decision to go natural. I transitioned before for a couple of months but then gave in, but this time i'm ready! my last perm was in October.

THIS WAS MY LAST PERM


THEN I CUT MY HAIR FOR NEW YEARS/MY BDAY. I CUT IT A LITTLE BELOW MY SHOULDERS:

THEN I WORE SENEGELESE TWIST FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY & A LIL INTO MARCH

&I CUT IT AGAIN & GOT MY HAIR BLOWN OUT ON MARCH 28th

i just washed my hair myself a couple days ago & let it hair dry not my hair is just one hot ass mess. i thought during my transition that i would do my hair myself but i dont really know how to deal with this new growth, so i guess i'll just continue to get a wash and set every 2weeks?

I really don't know any products to use on my hair while transitioning so if anyone can recommend some products to help my hair on its journey to natural beauty then i'd greatly appreciate it

Your hair looks really nice I'm sure others will come and give you more suggestions.

I would recommend cowashing (it's like washing your hair with conditioner) to keep the new growth (NG) and relaxed hair soft.

And I'd also recommend protective styling, just keeping it up and out of the way so you won't be bothered with it.

I also use (natural) Jason's aloe vera gel and just my fingers to smooth my NG down when I put it in a ponytail. Then I put a scarf on the edges and let them "set."

I stay away from brushes b/c they thin my edges.

I only transitioned for 3 months because I was terrified of damaging my natural hair with heat from roller sets. One of my favorite moisturizers is Carol's Daughter Hair Milk. You can buy it at www.carolsdaughter.com or if you live in NYC, there's a store on 125th street in Harlem. I believe there's one in Brooklyn too. I started using it while I was transitioning and I use it now that I'm natural. It smells great, it's light, and it makes your hair very soft. The Hair Milk and S-Curl are my best friends.

Use protective styles and baby your hair as much as possible. The longer you NG gets, the more the relaxed ends will get in the way.

Some people think that wet wrapping causes breakage and damage in the long run. I don't know. I guess you could get tips from more experienced ladies on here. I'm a relative newbie myself dealing with a possible transition. We are in the same boat.

It has olive coconut jojoba and avacdo oil in all of the products listed. It will smoothe down and moister that new growth and have it as healthy and shining as possible

The creme is 3.99 and the shampo and con is 4.99 ea.

Well, I transitioned for alil over 10mths one time. It was a breeze! I did mainly protective styles. My hair was too short at the beginning to wear buns, but I would pin up the back and wear my bangs down. I also wore alot of braidouts, wash-n-gos, rollersets and flexirod sets. I even wore phony ponies and did twistouts (I put lil rods on the ends for some added curl). I never wore braids or sew-ins. I am not very fond of my hair being untouchable. My hair eventually got long enough for me to wear two buns like pigtails (I would baggy them at night for moisture retention). I wore these until I bc'd basically. My fave products were Creme of Nature shampoo, cheapie conditioners, S-Curl spray, and Wild Growth Oil. I don't think I would've made it thru my transition w/o them. The S-Curl helped keep my line of demarcation nice and moisturized so I had no breakage. The Wild Growth Oil made my new growth soft and managable. And we all know how great CON shampoo is! My siggy pic shows the growth I retained during that time. HTH and happy transitioning!
