First i would like to say I love this board and the support everyone gives me. It is really positive to see women helping women!!!

So I am new here and I have soaked up soooo much information, and have spent about a hundred dollars on product. One thing that I have consistently seen is that moisturizing is the key. I am trying to develop a solid hair regie and I have gotten the co-wash, DC, and weekly washes down packed. I am currently wearing twist outs and so I put on my products daily and make sure I get the ends.

Is there a such thing as putting too much moisturizers in the hair?

Thanks!!!

Yes, and while I've never experienced it, I have learned that the main sign that your hair is over-moisturized is it will be mushy.

Yes. As Nonie said your hair will be mushy and sticky, etc., and you might get scalp and hairline break outs. Your hair may feel gummy and look coated after you shampoo it - and this is when people usually use some sort of clarifying shampoo or aid like apple cider vinegar or baking soda.

Yes. I've experienced it... very unpleasant. My hair was extremely weak and seemed to break if I looked at it too hard.. I've since incorporated more protein on a regular basis. No more over moisturization.

yes: I got my hair over moisturized when I mixed 3 moisturizing deep conditioners and deep conditioned overnight on wet hair after a 6 month regimen of no protein and daily moisturizing / sometimes I used my deep conditioner as a leave in.
I didn't know my natural hair and I thought protein was wrong / I didn't know the difference between light protein treatments and hard core protein treatments.

My thick hair felt very light and fine to the touch and my curls were limp. I got back on track deep conditioning with eggs.

Now I use a light protein weekly, as a deep conditioner or as a co-wash to avoid over moisturization.
