Hello
I am new to the forum and have a couple of questions. How do I tell my hair type? what is transitioning? Do I need to cut the perm out of my hair in order to attain the growth I want? I have thick/coarse hair and I am afraid I will be unable to manage my hair without a relaxer. I have been caring for my hair myself besides a trip to the every 3 months for a relaxer and it has grown a great deal in a year. What are all the codes ie, APL, BSL etc....

Try asking these questions in the Hair Care Tips forum, I think you'll get more answers there.

Do a search on the topics, there have been plenty of threads about the questions you have asked.

I can't answer all of your questions but welcome!!!:yep: If you are considering transitioning I hope you enjoy the natural journey. THere are way too many codes to list them all so I hope you check out the newbie thread they posted.

:welcome: Like others have posted there are a lot of threads specifically for newbies, but if you are seriously considering transitioning PLEASE do so. You don't have to cut all your hair off, I transitioned for 22 months so look into all the treads for transitioners it will help a lot.

Hello
I am new to the forum and have a couple of questions. How do I tell my hair type?
I'm very bad at hairtyping but here is an introduction to it at this website http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types
what is transitioning?
Transitioning means to stop relaxing your hair while not chopping off all of your relaxed ends. If you chop all of your relaxed ends, then you are no longer relaxed and you are now what people on the hair message boards call "natural." But if you just grow out your relaxer, people on the hair boards call this transitioning because you are dealing with two types of hair. You can transition for any amount of time you want before you eventually cut all of your relaxed ends off
Do I need to cut the perm out of my hair in order to attain the growth I want?
What type of growth do you want?
I have thick/coarse hair and I am afraid I will be unable to manage my hair without a relaxer.
I understand where you are coming from, I'm sure you will learn a lot here.
I have been caring for my hair myself besides a trip to the every 3 months for a relaxer and it has grown a great deal in a year.
That's great, can you be more specific?
What are all the codes ie, APL, BSL etc....

APL- armpit length hair
BSL- bra strap length hair
You will figure out all the codes very quickly as you go along.

Welcome newbie! Hope you enjoy your stay!
There is a lot to learn here!

:welcome:
