Hello Ladies,

My name is Mala and I live in Miami. This is my first post and in all honesty I do not know where to begin.

I have sooo many questions its not funny...

How often are you supposed to wash your hair?
How often are you supposed to deep condition?
Are you supposed to put moisterizer on your hair everyday?
What products you just cant live without?

The reason why I ask these questions is because I thought if you washed your hair often you would wash the perm out. And if I just went to the salon and got my wrap done, wont putting something on my hair mess up the wrap or weigh it down?

Thanks in advance,
Mala

i will post some threads you can check out that helped me start out.it will take me some time (bout 10 mins) so dont go away.

hi hun! welcome to the forum!! if you look at the top of the lists of threads you will see a sticky called favorite stickies thats a great place to start off, i was my hair once a week and deep condition every wash, some ladies do more some do less but make sure you deep condition everytime you use shampoo, dont worry about washing out you perm cuz you cant wash it out it's permanent, i moisterize whenever i feel like my hair is dry, some ladies moisterize daily and then seal in the moisture with some kind of oil or serum hope that helped and good luck with your hair!

ETA: oops above are the stickies i was talking about :)

Ok....these are all great places to start.....

i have learnt most of what i know from this lady.....all her articles are helpful...i'd recommend starting with her hair care regime building.

this is a fotki that gives all the basics you will need.she is great!

i didnt ask if you were relaxed or natural....if you are relaxed this is a one stop info thread on relaxing
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/for...d.php?t=157899

i think this is heaps to get you started with......if you need more you should go to the favourite stickies link. there's heaps of info there to.

other than that once you have a feel of how you will go about with your regime i'd suggest using the search engine....the best way to do so is to.....

1. go to advanced search
2. type what you want to search
3. select search titles only (just under the "search by keyword" field)
4. then select at least 5 posts

good luck!

:welcome:

As someone who wraps her hair daily- YES moisturizing every day DOES weigh my hair down. I don't know what to tell you, though- if you find that your ends are dry and need moisture, you should moisturize them. I find that if I use a heavy moisturizer like Elasta QP Mango Butter on my ends, it last for days, but I lose all of my bounce. Everyone on LHCF will say moisturize daily & you probably should, but my ends don't get THAT dry, they just don't.

How often are you supposed to wash your hair?
Some people co-wash or wash daily, some only once per week
How often are you supposed to deep condition?
Some people deep condition every time they wash, some people only deep condition occasionally.
Are you supposed to put moisturizer on your hair everyday?
That's what they say. :look:
What products you just cant live without?
Chi Silk Infusion

i dont know about "supposed to"...you'll see relatively quickly that everyone does things differently. i cowash at least twice a week and wash once every 2 weeks, while some people just have one wash day a week where they shampoo, DC, and rollerset. building a good regimen will take some trial and error (and probably a lot of money since you may become a PJ) but once you get it there is no better feeling than being on hair care autopilot. i would love to answer your questions, but i am natural so my answers might not be fully applicable. (i can tell you that i love to moisturize/seal with coconut oil...ooh i am a coconut oil FIEND...)

welcome, btw :)

Hi:)

I see the ladies already gave you some good points of reference. Finding out what works for you may take some time...but it will ultimately be to your advantage. Happy hair growing!!!:drunk:

WELCOME!! and just like a few of them mentioned, start out with the "favorite stickies" at the top of the threads. It post a lot of info for newbies.
oh, and one more thing that may help while ur on here, if u have a question, or thinking about starting a thread, u may wanna search it first cuz there may already be a thread on it. but if u want more info on a thread that's already made, then u can "bump" that thread. but u will learn so much here. Just read the "favorite stickies" thread, and a lot of older threads. HTH (that means hope this helps).

I'm sure the ladies have you in good hands!! Follow their advice, and you'll be fine! I just wanted to welcome you to the board!! Glad to see you here!
