Right now my hair is shoulder length. I am the mother of 4 girls and 2 boys my youngest is 2 months old. Right now I am experiencing some shedding and very dry ends. I have just purchased the following products to try and revive my hair and get add length. Mazani Rose H2O, KeraCare First lather shampoo, KeraCare hydrating detangling shampoo, KeraCare Humecto creme conditioner. My next purchases will be a bonnet hair dryer and Mazani Moisturefuse. I was my hair every three day per the Ultimate Hair Growth II Book. (by the way has anyone tried these techniques and do they work?) My hair has usually grown on average of roughly 2-3 inches by the time my 8 wks are up for my touch up but it has usually broken off just as much by then as well.

I am ultimately trying to get my hair to grow at least waste length and would like all the help I can get to get my hair there ASAP.

From what you have posted, I would suggest adding a protein conditioner to your wash once a month..This will help with breakage and will strengthen the hair..

What moisturizers do you use daily or otherwise? If you don't use any, this may be the cause of the dryness and one of the causes for breakage.

How often do you use heat? How do you dry your hair now?

I'm sure others will post soon..

Just wanted to ask... Are u still taking your Prenatals? If not, then check with your Doc to see if u can resume taking them (or maybe she/he can suggest another vit). I too experienced shedding at about 6 wks postpartum. Naw, let me say it like it was... my hair was literally "falling out"

, and of course I freaked out. My Doc suggested that I go back on my prenatals (which were Flintstone's Complete

cause I couldn't swallow those prenatal horsepills). I took the prenatals for another 6 mths consistently. At about the 2 mth mark, I had absolutely no more shedding. The prenatals helped to give me the vits & nutrients that my body was lacking after childbirth. Talk with your Doc... see what he/she has to say.

Hi and welcome....yes...6 kids...the stress alone would cause my hair to shed. Just kidding. My hair shedded after I had my son....plus it could be stress related..... so relax...you came to the right place...

Welcome and God bless you, girl(with all those precious kids). As a mother myself, I know it's a BIG job. Good luck with the hair.

Oh yeah, the shedding is more than likely due to your hormone levels normalizing after pregnancy. This happened to me beginning about a month and a half after I had my son. If it isn't too much, don't worry. You can check with your OB as well.

Right now I am using Rose H2O as a daily moisturizer. As for right now I let my hair air dry, then iron it straight. If I go to the salon they usually blow dry it then flat iron it.
I am trying to stay away from stuff like that. I figured if I got the hair bonnet then I could sit under it at a low temp and still get my hair straight and dry with it in a roller set.

My doctor had to take me off my prenatal early in my pregnancy because I would regurgitate everything that went in my mouth for the first 6 months of pregnancy. I can see if there is a vitamin I can take now though. That is a good idea especially since I am nursing my daughter.

oh, you really need to make sure that you are taking something while you are nursing. you make sure that you get all your vitamins and minerals because, your baby has to get hers too! you're still "eating for 2". look at me,trying to give advice to a mom of 6! kids when i only have 1. i'm still a doggone rookie!

welcome to the board! you'll love it here!

When you have been blessed to have any children you are no longer a rookie. I consider a babysitter a rookie. That is only because they have a choice in the matter. Mothers have to be there through thick and thin because God has called you to that duty which is one of the most precious jobs on earth. I am so proud to be chosen to raise so many. That is the way I look at it. I am going to get some vitamins today. I am also going to start working out which is going to make me have to do at least a conditioning rinse daily. I hope all this works.

why, thank you princess j!

take your vitamins. one of my good friends and i email every morning (whoever gets to work first). the subject line always says "good morning" and the body says "take your vitamin!!". teamwork!

I was wondering if the stress of being a mother of six was the cause of my hair shedding.
