Hi, I just joined LHCF and I have been reading about the castor oil regimens. I just had to cut my hair due to breakage and I didn't know how the castor oil would effect my hair. I have relaxed hair and I didn't know if it would weigh my hair down.

Its a little too heavy for me to seal w everyday but I do apply it to my temples and the nape of my neck. I also added a few drops of tea tree oil and rosemary oil to the bottle. My hair has thickened up wonderfully.

Sometimes I'll rub what's left on my hands down the rest of my hair. It makes my hair super soft!

I'm natural and not sure if my experience will help, but here it is :-)

I BC'd on May 31, and had very thin edges due to too-tight weaves, braids and glued in tracks (I know, horrible, right?). Anyway, I started using castor oil (JBCO) nightly on my edges and I've already noticed a difference in their thickness. I also started add castor oil to my co-washes and DCs and have noticed a CONSIDERABLE increase in my overall thickness in the last 8 weeks.

I tried sealing with castor oil last week, cuz I'd heard how great it makes your hair feel, but my hair was still sorta dry the next day. I'll try it again after this week's wash with a more moisterizing leave-in to see if that'll make a difference.

HTH!

Ok guys stupid question.... where do you find JBCO? Grocery store? Hair store? Health store? Jamaica? I'm interested in incorporating it into my routine, but don't know where to look....

I've seen JBCO in the BSS.

I use regular castor oil to help me detangle. When I use it with the Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In, the comb slides right through my hair.

Actually I think that was a pretty good question! I was wondering the same thing. I also want to know if there is a difference between Jamaican Castor oil and the Castor oil you get from the drugstore? I'm down for anything that going to promote health and thickness!

There is also a site called JamaicanBlackCastoroil.com . That's where i first bought mine from.

Welcome To LHCF by the way! Lol

What is good about rosemary oil?

I've used JBCO but never consistently. Is it supposed to increase overall thickness or just thicken thinning spots?

I bought JBCO from www.oilsfromjamaica.com They've got great shipping rates, IMO.

And as a relaxed head, I find it to be too heavy to seal with daily. I use it on my nape area, which really needs to thicken up. Also, if I had a lot of it I would try adding it to my DC or Pre-Poo. HTH!

Haitian Black Castor Oil....anybody have a source for this one? I need to compare the products and it's hard to find!

I've never heard of Haitian castor oil. I'm interested in knowing about a source that sells it to! I bought some regular castor oil for other reasons but I'm thinking of including it in my hair oiling regimen. BTW, welcome to the forum OP! :)
