Hello everyone,
I have been gone a long time and sorely missed the AA hair care pioneering going on up in here

. I was working like a maniac trying to relocate from California to North Carolina (which I've been blessed to successfully do.) Now, I am back on track and about 50 pages behind!

Also, I finally have a hair album to visit if you have a chance. It has pictures from my big chop in Oct 2002 up to now: http://public.fotki.com/Beloved18/

Take care

Stunning! I was hoping to see the "out" after the bantu knots picture. Gorgeous hair!

What do you use on it?

Your hair is lovely. I wish I had the courage that you have! My husband and I made that same drive when I was in the military in 2001, I understand your pain!

@ SherryLove: thank you very much

@cutebajangirl: my dad has that same afro picture with his high school graduation cap trying to perch on top!

@pookey: congrats on your Surge stardom! My out on the bantus was less than stunning. For some reason, braids straighten my hair out, especially when they've been wet.

Currently my hair is in love with 100% coconut oil mixed with anything! I mix it with conditioner (Daily Defense Tender Apple, VO5 Strawberries and Cream or Suave Humectant and a little MNT Deep Mois Cond plus castor oil and vegetable glycerine) and apply it to dry hair while showering. I rinse in the shower and either apply IC Fantasia gel + Curly Buttercreme for shake-n-gos or coconut oil + moisturizer (UBH or MOM) for afro-ed out styles. I wash once a week with JASON EFA shampoo and deep condition with some kind of protein conditioner in my arsenal mixed with coconut oil and follow with moisturizing conditioner.

If I twist, I use my honey wax plus MOM (mixed with coconut oil, of course).

My hair is thriving. I don't comb or brush it much and I haven't used any heat.

thank you! That drive is no joke, especially when I lost phone and radio reception for long periods of time in Arizona and New Mexico!

Your hair looks great!

You gotta check out Beauty World on Tryon Rd and K's Beauty Supply in the Mini City Plaza on Capitol Blvd.

Beloved,

Do you like you natural hair better than having it relaxed? You were very brave to chop off your relaxed hair back in 2002...I dont think I could do it! Your hair looks very nice natural

Keep it in good hair care

Your hair is so pretty Beloved!! You have made so much progress. You're very creative with your styles. I wish I had you to do my daughter's hair

. Thanks for sharing your album.

Thank you, ladies, for your compliments. I really appreciate it.

@armyqt: if I had a child, she'd say "leave-me-lone, leave-me-lone, leave-me-lone, because I LOVE styling natural hair and am longing to try to do someone else's besides mine. Children would be fun because they don't need to be as conservative.

-->Good looking out Sassygirl, since L.o.s.A.n.g.e.l.e.s was full of BSS, I am on the hunt for them here for my beloved products. I hope to meet you and CarolinaAfro one day here in Raleigh.

-->@Poohbear: I ABSOLUTELY love having my hair back to natural and kinky all the time. It totally fits me. I only got a relaxer in college because I was in the South's humidity and my press wouldn't last. It never occured to me that my hair didn't NEED to be straight! Plus, the texture change horrified me initially because it felt like straw or something. It took me 10 years to work up the nerve to cut it, but thank God I did. I am soooo happy now and soooo over my fear of having short hair. Inevitably, I am going back to a TWA before eventually locking and growing it to my behind!
