Hellop everyone my name is Autumn. My hair has always been APL my whole life.Last year,I got a relaxer done,and my whole head was over processed.Im guessing thats what you call it, my new growth was fine (about 3 inches) and the rest of the length of was hair was fragile and see-through.My beautician also gave me a big bald spot from the perm right in the middle of my head..

Anyways,a year later,my hair is almost back to health,about 80% and im at neck length/barely brushing my shoulders..Im anxious to get my hair back long again for my senior pictures next year and I was wondering if anyone out there went from NL to APL in a year/ year and a half??..also without wearing protective styles?Is this possible or am I just dreaming hehe

Start by building a regimen...and dont jump on all the bandwagons that can cause set backs...do really good research. Try finding members with similar hair type as you....


Gentle shampoo
Weekly Deep condition
Limit heat to once a week or less
moisturize

and hot oil treatments if your hair is very dry...also stretch at least 12 weeks....

HI I'm a newbie too, but from what I've read, you'll have to do something protective to get past shoulder length or wear satin all the time. Buns are pretty and protective. See Sistaslick's link and fotki

Thanky you guys..Actually ive been lurkin around for months and just decided to join a couple weeks ago. But i have 4a or 4b hair its really thick and nappy lol.Also,i normally stretch my relaxers about 4 or 5 months..

Welcome to the forum sweetie, my hair use to be damaged in high school, and I went to salons, they broke my hair off with them relaxers. I was shoulder length SL in high school.

Thanks you guys.I dont think protective styles are for me.My hair is too thick for sew ins and i dont like braids/buns.Any other ideas? And has anyone,or do you know of anyone that has accomplished NL to APL hair??
