Hey ladies I just want to start off by saying I have never seen such beautiful heads of hair in my life. I' m new to the fourm and I am currently growing out my relaxer with braids. My hair is 4a/b and very kinky. I know the next time I take out my braids that I am going to blow my hair out and give my self a really good trim, about 1.5 to 2 inches. My hair isn't all one lenght, my sides grow slower. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like those side swoop bangs and in the back my hair almost grow in layers looking a southergirls hair I want a blut cut soooo bad, but my hair grows in light layers. What is the best way to trim my hair? I need your help

p.s babyblue you are my hair goddess.

Dust the very back of your hair until the layers catch up, then trim it all into a blunt style. Never let your beautician trim your hair while holding the length straight up in the air, you'll never get a blunt cut that way. You should probably dust every 2 or 3 months.

*A Dust is a mini-trim. You'll only cut off 1/8 of an inch.

Hey There Superstar

Welcome!! If your hair doesn't grow very even (most of ours doesn't), a blunt cut may not be for you, as you might lose too much of your length.

My hair grows much faster on the top, front, and sides than it does at the very back (I think b/c of my protective styles and the way I sleep). I like to keep it trimmed this way because of how it grows. Fortunately, I LOVE blunt cuts so I got lucky :)

Take a look at Carlie's hair trimming method. With her tips, you can section off the sides and cut them seperately, then do the back (gathering each section into a ponytail). That way you'll get a slight blunt cut, but only in each section that you trim. Your ends should be nice and thick after using her method based on the amount you plan to cut!

Hope that helps!!
