New Aveda Smooth Infusion: Naturally Straight (full curl reversion)

This sounds so interesting. I never heard of this product. Please take pictures so we can see the results

I've found that many times with Aveda it's hard to find their ingredients online. They're not really out for the world to see.

I'm very interested but I'm the complete OPPOSITE of a product junkie. I hate spending my own money.

Maybe this would be a viable option for banding? I need some type of smoothing product. I have few in mind. I like the You Be Natural serum (tried it as a sample, it's amazing). Okay I'm rambling, sorry!!

I am at the salon now. Its an entire line with shampoo, condish, serum, heat protectant. Over $20 for each item in the system. It also says it GRADUALLY permanently straightens.

Lots of cones and chemical names with aloe and a cpl herbs thrown in.

I have spoken with several stylists and all of the ads say it washes out after 3 shampoos. Supposedly, it works on the outer layer of your hair only. That being said I did 1/2 of my hair with Tremesse and the other half with Aveda and no one can tell the difference in terms of texture, shine and how it hangs. I used Aveda style prep plus the Naturally Straight today on one side.

I just wonder if the curls will come back with Aveda after 5 uses. DarkJoy has me thinking about this. I've only used it twice so it only slightly loosened my curl. I don't want to lose my curls. I think the best bet is to try to Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener instead of the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight (progressive straightening) with the Aveda Style Prep before hand if you want to go chemical free.

Neither of these aveda lines is all natural tho.

The one I read in the store and took pics of is cone heavy with some herbs thrown in to make it look good.

It said exact quote "gradually loosens curl" the rest was about several uses to achieve it I think its basically heat training (ie, heat damage depending on your POV").

This sucks too cuz I was so down to straighten once a month for some variety. But my hair is fragile. The products also contains aloe which makes my hair break

Very interesting. Thanks for the video! Yes...I'm wondering that myself. I drilled a few Aveda people and it appears that it's a veggie protein that weighs down the hair so with each wash it gathers more and more so in theory it is like a weight that drags down the hair to straighten it (by weight of product) and will wash off after three shampoos. I wish she showed three shampoos later. I'd love to see that. But either way it's excellent to see what happens after 5 shampoos.

I love it. I didn't a rollerset and wrap using it. My hair came out so shiny, smooth and silky. Me likey!

No, my curls do not come all the way back. They are definitely straighter. I wouldn't recommend this line for someone who consistently goes back and forth between natural and straight styles.

Yes precisely what the product touts as mentioned earlier in this thread. Gradual straightening.

Ill ponder this a bit before deciding....

Im getting to realize that my hair likes being straight (at the very least blown out) and any product or technique that allows for moisture retention and using less heat to get it straight would be ideal.

so is it puffy straight, relaxer straight or just a looser curl. I'd freak out if I washed my hair and it was relaxer straight looking erplexed

So far I am like Tresemme much better. My hair is medium in strand density and very, very strong naturally. For that reason my hair does not do well with too much protein. My hair is very soft with Tremesse. It does have glycerin and mineral oil to offset the keratin. I don't mind mineral oil because I shampoo once a week anyway.

I am LOVING the Aveda but is the Tresseme similar? Can you explain the differences between the two for you?

Tresemme over time really started drying my hair out. My hair stays curly with both of them, thank goodness, but after several uses Aveda wins for me.

Aveda replaces so many products, including the need to do several keratin treatments a year and my hair doesn't get dry and crispy.

I decided to use the whole system on my hair today. I only bought the full size of Aveda smooth infusion naturally straight. The others were travel size. The shampoo I washed once. It was ok. I have had better slip but it still made hair manageable. The sales lady gave me a sample smooth infusion masque. Maybe I needed more but was not a lot going on. I felt like I needed more on. Then rinsed and put the conditioner. I usually like more slip but it was manageable meaning I could comb through with no problem. I put the pre smoother, then the Aveda smooth infusion naturally straight. Then I blow dried and flat ironed. It turned out pretty straight and swingy. I will see how it holds up though.

I wanted to try this but my hair hates hydrolyzed wheat protein with a passion... Thanks @ManeStreet for mentioning the Kenra one. I didn't see hydrolyzed wheat on the ingredients but it does have some kind of protein blend so I will take a chance on the Kenra.
