Never Drying Hair.......

Hey ladies, What would cause my hair to take longer than normal to dry.
Last night I did my weekly rollerset using the same products as usual and my hair took almost 2 hours to dry
I remember reading a thread about this but I can't find it. TIA

How many weeks post relaxer are you??
I know when I get about 4 wks and beyond, I usually find that it takes longer for my hair to dry.

Im about 6 weeks post relaxer. I was wondering if this was the problem, I do plan to relax in 2 weeks. I wanted to rule out other possible problems prior to relaxing. I want to make sure this isn't an indication of my moisture/protien balance being off or something like that

When I put any kind of oil on my hair it takes longer to dry.

I really don't use a oil. Last night I used giovanni direct leave in, keracare styling foam, and diluted infusium 23.
As I mentioned before I am due for a relaxer soon, but the roots are not the problem this time, it's the rest of my hair shaft that took forever to dry.

One theory is that the more porous your hair is, the faster it dries because your hair isn't holding moisture like it should. So maybe your hair is retaining moisture better than it used to. So it could be a good thing.

When your hair takes long to dry I think that usually means that the porosity of your hair is good (it holds on to moisture well like a new sponge vs. an old sponge that dries out quickly). While it can be annoying, its not a bad thing. The porosity of your hair could have improved from a protien treatment, using a porosity control type poo/condish or something else that altered the pH of your hair. I know that there are plenty of threads on porosity here if you want more info. Maybe thats why your hair is taking longer to dry than it used to.

I never thought about that way! I does make since seeing that my hair is doing a lot better than before and I have worked really hard to acheive/maintain the moisture/protein balance... so I guess it's working. In that case me & my dryer may be spendinf alot more time together :perplexed

Ya'll are some real geniuses!! I learn something new almost everyday on this site.:)

I give all credit to those (LHCFers) before me. I found out that info from being on this site as well. I actually had the opposite problem from the OP. My hair was drying out very quickly and wouldn't hold on to moisture at all. Someone suggested Porosity Control and I did my research then. :D
