Need styling gel or setting lotion for pin curls

Pin curls are my new obsession. They look great initially,but start to droop as the day goes on. I would like to try some type of setting lotion/gel to extend the life of the curls without drying out my hair or making it fuzzy.

I bought some IC gel, which is supposed to be alcohol free, but it left my hair looking dry. It was also really strong, and left my hair too curly.

I'm open to suggestions.

With Ic gel I use a leave-in underneath to prevent drying/dryness....what about Jane carter solution wrap & roll or the nairobi styling foam?
