Okay, so I am really gonna get serious about getting my hair healthy and building a good SIMPLE regimen that will work for me. Could you ladies chime in and let me know what hair type you think I have.

In this shot my hair was pulled into a ponytail(wet) and tied down with a scarf overnight. It is still damp in the photo. It has some Infusium leave in and coconut oil on the ends. Nothing else.

I stopped relaxing my hair in October of 2006. I do rely heavily on heat to style my hair......I know, I know:spank: but, it is not too late to change.

Can someone who is seasoned in identifying hair types tell me what I have going on in my head. There appears to be some different stuff depending on where you look in my head.

Your waves look similar to mine, and I identify my hair as mainly 4a. I think it would be easier to judge though with a photo of a few curls that aren't stretched out too much.

It's really hard to say what type you have there, especially because you say it was stretched in a ponytail. Also because you have a lot of relaxed hair pulling on your the natural hair, it also adds its own angle to things. And if you use heat a lot, then who knows whether that's done anything to your texture?

You will need a little more growth and you will need to take photos of your hair after washing it before you manipulate it or stretch it into a style for people to be able to guess the type.

You say you stopped relaxing in October 2006? Is this correct?

If so, you don't seem to have alot of natural hair or maybe you have lots of heat damage as you say you rely heavily on heat.

I'm thinking 3C. This is just a guesstimate but I'm taking into account that it's stretched and also the weight from your relaxed hair is a factor.

I so missed that. I thought it said 2009. :hide:

Heat damage is what I may be suffering from. I don't have much permed hair on my head at all. When I tie it down, with or without product, it will dry almost completely straight in the front.

My last relaxer was in Oct.2006. The front of my head has always been a different texture than the back. I am gonna post new pics when I wash again without tying it down or putting it in a ponytail first.

Thanks!!!

Being newly natural, I say you can never know unless you are natural...but 3c/4a is safe guess i'd say.
