Need some Advice....

Hi ladies! I really need some advice, my hair is getting really thick as it grows out which I am very happy about but the thing is every time I wash my hair I usually air dry it in about 10 braids. Lately I have noticed that it is taking my hair 2 days to air dry and I hate handling it wet because it's harder to stretch it out to put it in a bun ultimately leading to more tugging and breakage. So what I want to do is buy a new blow dryer with a cool setting and maybe start blow drying it on cool to speed up the drying time. Do you guys think this would be safe to do once a week? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm a 4b with below shoulder length hair.

My hair is very thick as well and it usually takes 2 days for it to completely air dry. Using a hairdryer on cool once a week won't harm your hair or cause heat damage. Just make sure your hair is properly sealed before hand to avoid drying your hair out. You also might want to consider using smaller braids to speed up the air drying process. You can redo the braids into larger ones the next day for a more stretched out look.

Blowdrying your hair on cool on a weekly basis shouldn't be a problem. I do it weekly in the summer with no ill effects.

Blow drying may not be so harmful if you use the right amount of heat for your hair and a good protectant. If you're doing it on a cool setting, I don't see any harm at all. I agree with making smaller braids for the first day and making them bigger the next day until their completely dry.

Have you tried making the braids smaller? Try splitting each braid in half ... that should help with the drying process

Thanks ladies for the advice its much appreciated..I will make them smaller and see if that helps with speeding up the drying time.
