Hey :-) I haven't permanently colored my hair in quite some time and have recently been keeping my hair up with rinses that give it some glint in the sun. But I wanna try a nice uniform hair color...maybe highlights, but I've gotten them for so long that I wouldnt mind a change...

I've never been able to tell whether I'm warm, cool, neutral, etc. So I dont know what color would suit me best... I have some old pics in this thread that has pics of me on the first pg: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=346613

So, any suggestions for a color that would look nice on me? lol:grin:

TIA!

Posted pics here for convience too, sorry about them being so big:

Your warm. Warm with a reddish base, not too much gold.

What look are you going for.

I have similar coloring actually and I find that I look best in red shades. The problem with that though is that alot of the darker red tones have a violet base and I hate plummy looking colors because they look too fake (to me at least). The way I deal with that is I add a red-orange base color to it or just use a red-oranged tone color so I can still get the color intensity without the undertones I don't like.

If you wanted to go more brown and lighter, stay away from any cool blonde tones. Look for reddish blonde tones to still keep you in a undertone range that would flatter your skin. When I say blonde, don't think Beyonce  I mean blonde only in the since that colors level 6 and up are considered to be blonde by definition.

Thanks Gymfreak! I've always liked red and I guess I know why now, lol:grin: I figure with the advice you've given me I can go for a brownish-red color? I dont want anything that looks too unnatural...just something with the right tones that will fit with my skintone and hopefully emphasize/brighten it as well.:yep:

Brownish red would look good. That is kinda what color my hair is now except for the sun has oxidized it a little so it is very light brown. I am going to rinse it soon though to get my color back. Brown red colors are great because it is just a hint of warmth without too much plum/violet coming through.

just fyi, it's going to be h e double hockey sticks to color over red esp if you want to go lighter. darker or dark browns - okay - and even then you will have some copper outcome. but if you want to go lighter, it's going to be hades to pay. ask me how i know!

Oh I bet! Luckily, those pics are over two years old:blush: I know, I need to snap some recent shots of me already! All that red has grown out from constant hair cuts, trims and most recently, though regrettably, getting layers:nono: I've only got about an inch of higlights left in my hair at the ends and various other places but my natural hair color is pretty much all thats left, with the fading out demi-permanent color in there. I wanted to go lighter, but not red or blonde; just a bit of a lighter brown... think ill be able to do it? My natural hair color is a very dark brown.
