NEED HAIRCOLOR HELP!!

My daughter (age 17) recently used FERIA permanent color in Medium Golden Brown on her hair, thinking that it would come out looking like the gorgeous sandy brown color on the box, but of course, it didn't. It came out like a dark brown with hardly any red. I don't know what she was thinking but yesterday while I was at work she bought Clairol Natural Instincts in Dark Brown and put it on her hair. (I had no idea she was going to do this, or I would have warned her not to!!!) Anyway her hair is now JET black and she hates it. I actually think it looks nice, but she's desperate now to do something to take the color out.

I told her that anything she puts in it now is probably going to cause damage. She already tried dishwashing liquid and it didn't take the color out. She also tried sitting under the heat cap with conditioner in it. That didn't work either. Does anyone have any ideas?? I told her just to leave it alone and she'll get used to the black hair, but she isn't hearing that. :ohwell:

Go to sallys and get a product that helps strip color. You can also find something like this at cvs or walgreens. Follow thier instructions. If it is still not up to her satisfaction, go to a colorist asap and ask for their opinion. Color can get tricky and corrective color is nearly impossible to do at home, esp.for light colors.

Thanks!!... I just hope that haircolor remover doesn't damage her hair or dry it out too much! Her hair was just starting to grow back nicely, and now she had to go and experiment with this color... :perplexed

Well after you do the remover a couple of times or as many as they recommend, do a protien treatment and follow up with a moisturizing conditoner(you know the LHCF Standard). No direct heat and I would do a full conditioning(protien and mositure) every week for atleast a month. Drop the protein to every other week the second month and full moisture treatments. The aphogee keratin reconstructor, 5mins with a hot towel on my heat once a week for a month has saved me before.

Thanks Gymfreak...

She used the "UNCOLOR" once and it took the color out somewhat. Her hair is still dark but she says she can deal with it being this color... I don't know what the heck is in that stuff, but it is STROOOONG!! It smells almost like straight ammonia!!! I don't want to put it in there again unless we really have to!! :look:

I would just leave it alone at this point and tell her to deal with it. Permanent color is very strong and if you keep trying to strip her hair she might not have any left (Especially if she's relaxed). I would wait a couple of weeks and if she is still bothered by the color I would take her to a color specialist to help her achieve the color she desires.

You can also try lemon juice mixed with a can of beer.
