Need advice regarding moisturizers

Is it possible to determine if a certain moisturizer will work or not for one's hair by testing it on the hairline only? For example, my sister tried raw shea butter(nothing added) on her edges after shampooing with african black soap and at first her hair was well defined and soft, but once it fully dried, it felt hard. :nono: She had been thinking about using shea butter as a moisturizer once she's fully natural, but now she's not so sure. Also, do any of you who use JBCO use it alone after washing your hair as a moisturizer/sealant and if so, what are your results? TIA and HHG!!!! :yep:

Yes it's entirely possible to test a moisturizer on a few hairs on the hair line to help determine if it will work for the entire hair. It's akin to doing a strand test on shed hair when coloring hair or applying Henna.

I use JBCO to seal, and sometimes moisturize. It's quick sticky/tacky but it makes my hair incredibly soft and moisturized.:yep::grin: HTH

My hairline is the coarsest part of my hair so I have to use different parts of my head to make it more accurate. Also I feel that plain shea butter works as a sealant like any other oil unless its mixed with something. When I did use JBCO as a sealant I would have to thin it out with a light oil but it worked out pretty well.
