Need a lil \'sistance

Okay, here's the deal- After I wash my hair, it is a tangled mess. The shampoos I use are Lisa Akbari's clarifying shampoo and Creme of Nature. I have tried conditioning washes, too. When I finish washing,my hair is a matted mess. I only wash my scalp, too. Are there any techniques or products (without Sodium/Ammonium Laryl sulfate and alcohol) I can use to manage my crown better?

Re: Need a lil \'sistance

Hmmm..well, personally I have found Aveda shampoos to be pretty good. I don't think they have the Sodium/Ammonium Laryl sulfates in them, or if so they substitute it with a more natural version. I like the Black Malva shampoo and the chamomile one for blonde hair(I'm not blonde but it brings out my highlights).
They are a little pricey but worth it.
However, I do have to say, no matter what shampoo I use, I have to put a handful of good conditioner in my hair in order to get a comb through. After I've combed with the conditoner in, I slightly rinse it out with cool water( I like to leave a little conditoner in for frizz control and softness).
Without that, I could never in a millions years get through my batches of tangles!

Re: Need a lil \'sistance

also, i'm not sure if you do this already, but detangling before you wash helps me out a TON

i wash in the kitchen sink so i comb all my hair to the top of my head in a high ponytail beforehand so that when it's time to wash, my hair isn't getting even more tangled. Also apply your conditioner to your hair in the direction that you plan to rinse it. like for myself, i apply my conditioner while my head is still in the bowl, since my hair is already in that direction, then i just add my plastic cap and let my conditioner "marinate". I don't comb my hair down until the conditioner has done it's stuff and by then my hair is fairly tangle-free. Hope this helps--jainygirl

Re: Need a lil \'sistance

I'm surprised because Cream of nature usually leaves my hair tangle free! Do you use hot oil treatments everytime you shampoo?

Re: Need a lil \'sistance

No,not everytime I shampoo. I've started experiencing this tangled mess once I my new growth got longer. I am considering purchasing Elucence products, eventually.

Bublnbrnsuga: I don't know what type of hair you have but I purchased this stuff made by Summit that is called Sheenique Botanical Treatment with Nubian Silk and it works wonders on coarse resistant hair! I love this stuff. I think you should give it a try.

What is the botanicals treatment? A moisturizer? Oil treatment? Shampoo? Conditioner? etc...
