I made a amazing discovery Saturday in preparation to straighten my hair. I washed, conditioned and applied Straightening Glaze spray and some cafe latte cream on my hair. I made 7 big twists all over and airdried for about 1 hour. My hair was slightly damp from the spray, but it wasn't my usually soaking wet hair. I used my K-Cutter comb to detangle and MAN!! It was so easy!! I am excited- maybe I can do some decent dry two strands now.

Yeah, drying the hair in large twists makes it very easy to comb out once dry. But letting that mess dry free and wild.... whoooooo weeee, near impossible!!!

BTW: You're hair looks wonderful!!!!!

I have to say that when I actually had hair and was natural, I combed my hair frequently when it was dry. It was more difficult and time-consuming than wet-combing but I lost far less hair.

Girl, you're just now discovering this? It's funny how so many naturals always tell you "Don't ever comb when it's dry." The key is to have it stretched out and lubricated first. Combing wet all the time isn't the only way...plus, your hair is at it's weakest state when it's wet. Glad you found out about dry combing! Your avatar looks great! Take care! ;)

The site administrater of a very popular natural hair board has a online photo album with a picture of her hair completely dried, detangled and completely brushed out (I know not the same as combing but its close). It looks as if she had a blowdry or a light press. It appears to be very healthy and tons of sheen.

Who makes these products?

I recently discovered this with my daughter's hair. I would start out combing it wet, in sections after moisturizing it, and by the time I got to the last couple of sections, they would be mostly dry. It was actually easier to comb those parts. Plus, they actually stayed detangled. I've let it dry the last couple of times I washed it, then braided or twisted it.

I'm glad to know this is not harmful. I was feeling guilty thinking I was breaking a rule or something!
