Hi Ladies

I am currently 14 months into my transition to natural and feel like I am going crazy out of my mind.

I have worn fake hair the entire journey and its driving me crazy even making me a little stressed out as I want to wear my OWN hair out now.

I am currently wearing kinky twists and plan to wear them for another 2 months then FINALLY wear my natural hair at 16 months natural.

I feel stressed and anxious because I don't know how long my hair will look or how long a twistout, braidout or flat iron will look at 16 months and I really need some reassurance and motivation from ladies so please if you are natural with a fotki please do you mind sharing your password so I can take a look? I would really appreciate it thanks.

Hello and congrats on going natural:grin:.
The process can be a little tedious, I ended my transition at 16 months and I had a big afro and I was surprised to have enough hair to try twists and braids. I think you'll be okay so rest assured. you can see my fotki pics from the link in my siggy. You can see I was able to wear an array of styles after 16month transition.

Yay, you're going natural!:yay:
Transitionoing is one of the hardest things I've ever done. (Transitioned for 2 and a half years)
All I can say is hang in there!!!
I think you'll be okay with twists and braids at 14 months along with many other styles :)
I know my transition was a lot longer than yours but I hope that my fotki can still help you somewhat :) Link in my siggy :)

Hi thanks for your reply.

You transitioned for 2.5 years - wow, well done you! I thought I was gonna go 2 yrs but one day after 13 months I just couldn't take it any more and BC'd. I don't regret it but perhaps could have waited a couple more months since I like long hair on me but I quickly put kinky twists in a week after my BC to carry me through to the 16 month mark.

HairQueen, congrats !!! I'm trying to transition also, I'm 5 months post. So you've hid your hair all this time. What style braids have your worn throughout your transition?

Thank you I'm almost there still hanging on!

Well I wore a phony pony's and half wigs throughout my entire transition and for the last 4 weeks I have been in kinky twists which I plan to re-do after 6 weeks and keep in for a further 6 weeks then after that I am done with fake hair lol!

The reason I am so frustrated is because I have been on LHCF since 2005!! and wore fake hair on and off in a fruitless mission to grow my hair long as a relaxed head but it just didn't work with my fine hair so I finally quit relaxers.

Congrats at reaching 5 months post, how have you been wearing your hair during this time?

Hi

Thanks a lot for your feedback, it helps with the motivation.. transitioning is one of the hardest things I've done also, its the mental/emotional challenge.

I guess I should have explained that I have bc'd already - I bc'd at 13 months but put my hair straight into kinky twists afterward. I plan to take the twists out in a couple of months and wanted was to see the length of people's hair at approx. 15/16 months so I know what to expect but I am sure I will still enjoy looking at your album, thank you.

Hi HQ - I transitioned for 15 months but I also did mini-chops along the way. @15 months I was done with the thin/anemic looking ends of my relaxed hair and getting sick of detangling them and/or styling them to blend with the natural hair.

I didn't wear my hair straight as much as I wore textured styles.

I'm glad I transitioned long enough to at least be able to get it into a ponytail/puff.

Sounds like you've been doing a good job so far and definitely should have enough hair to put into a variety of styles.

Congrats so far on your journey and good luck! Link to my fotki album is in my siggie.
