Naturals who wear straight styles 99% of the time

I’m relaxed and I’m curious to see how many naturals here prefer the straight look, even though they want to remain relaxer-free.

I wan to see some pictures of your natural texture as well as your straightened hair.
How long you’ve been doing it and what’s your technique.
What styles do you wear the other 1%?

If this was previously posted, please include the link :look:

I used to wear my hair straight 100% of the time, probably the first 4 years of my natural journey...let me see if I can find some pics for ya...

It's funny to look back because my hair was stuck at terminal right below SL...I am going to straighten it in July after I get my color and I am below APL now, so I'm excited about that!

I will come back later to post pics. However, I don't wear my hair 99% of the time, but when i do wear my hair straight people think it's relaxed. Be Back Later.

I don't qualify now, but this used to be me all day in the early parts of my natural journey. Now I straighten like 30-40% of the time. My coarse strands turned out to be a blessing in this regard because I pretty much put it through the paces and I was always grazing or at BSL, when I joined here I was grazing BSL. I know my hair handles heat wonderfully but my hair retains much better with reduced heat and plus I fell head over heels with the styling potential of my coils so I rock alot of curly sets, crimped braid outs, twist outs, curly fro's or long term PS's these days... and its muuuch better for my hair. Either way, are some pix from that era:

Thanks BMP, It looks really nice, though I must say I love all of your other styles as well. I love big curly hair, but I don’t think I would be able to deal with the shrinkage………that’s what kills me when I think about a possible transition, and the fact that I’ve been relaxed all my life, I would probably be scare of my natural texture…….lol. Your hair looks awesome, you must be doing something right...............:yep:

I know this is off topic :ohwell:: The real reason to my question is a friend of mine. I’m trying to figure how to help her. She’s relaxed, NL, her hair is very fine, and I believe she suffers from alopecia. She thinks the solution to her problem is to go natural, but she won’t give up the relaxed look. I’ve given her all the advice to the best of my knowledge about relaxed hair and whatever has worked for me. I don’t believe she’s following to the T, but I should’ve seen some improvement by now. She’s ready to go natural, but I don’t want her to jump on it thinking she could keep the same habits and be walking with some fried hair. She has been to docs and tried different methods, shampoos, pills, creams, you name it; everyone wants to keep her money, the last place she when wants 3k for a treatment. The whole thing is crazy but I don’t think she can keep pressing & flat ironing (for a long period of time) without compromising the health of her hair, which is not best right now. What do you ladies think?

Your hair is really pretty, love the color and the styles!

IMHO, I think if you have bad hair habits your hair quality will not improve regardless if you are relaxed or natural. To the OP if your friend has issues with thinning and damage natural may be the best option. I don't think anything is a quick fix. So if one does not use the proper techniques when using heat then the hair will be damaged and break regardless of being natural or relaxed.

BUMP!
Don't plan to wear straight often when I'm natural but I'm always hair porn hungry!
Everyone had lovely hair!
