Naturals Who Wear Buns

Can you please post some pics? I've been wearing my hair pulled back in the same boring bun and want a change. If you are "bunning", please share how youi are wearing yours.

Bumping...

Are there NO naturals who wear buns?

Okay, any relaxed ladies who have bun styles that will work on curly hair?

Hi,
My hair is natural and past shoulder length. When I wear a bun I do the sock bun thing only I use a trouser sock soaked in oil for it.

I am bored like you and wish it was a little longer so I could do a different type of bun.

I'm natural and i wear buns. I just found this new thing to make buns with at Walgreens. I love it. It says on the package that it makes perfect buns, and it really does. I don't know off hand the exact name of it, but I will take a picture of it and one of me with it in. This is my favorite way to wear a bun now :) .

I just saw this and wanted to bump it up.

I'm natrual and I wear my hair a bun almost everyday. I don't have any pictures of the back of my head with a bun but I'll get DH to take some for me tonight.

This is my first bun ever! Its a milestone for me b/c I wanted to get my hair in a bun w/o blowdrying it to make the hair long enough to fit. Its just your regular donut bun but I'm proud of it! :bouncegre

ETA: Oh yeah...excuse the mirror! I have small children!

I don't do buns - cuz my hair isn't long enough, but I do flat twists as a protective style.....it only takes about 45 minutes for me to do this - and I am NOT skilled with hair - and it lasts for about 4-5 days.

I would love to wear buns but as curly as my hair is, I would literally have to comb every day or wait until it gets a lot longer to tuck under.

I have an example of my bun in my fotki. I know EXACTLY what you mean about bun boredom. Happens to me a lot. My issue with the bun is that by always pulling my hair back (which against the growth pattern of my "frontal" hairs), I get thinning in my temples. So, I've been trying to make a side part more often such that my hair doesn't have the strain of being pulled directly back all the time. But I digress.....

Yeah, so what do y'all do?

Thanks!
I washed it and put it in 8 big twists to dry overnight.. Then I pulled them back and banded them to strech them a little.

The next day I undid the twists and finger combed them out and put it in the ponytail. Then I put the donut around it and wrapped the hair around the donut with an ouchless band. I used QP Honeybush gel on the flat part to smooth it down.

...Anxiously awaiting to see the bun thing and your pic!

Netta - beautiful, thick hair! Your puff is huge!

Camellia - what long hair you have! You can probably just twist your own around to make a bun, can't you?

Naturallady - what an awesome job you did on your first bun! I love it!

Nappywomyn - I envy that you can do flat twist like that - great job! When I try it wet, it looks okay but as it dries, it rises higher and higher from scalp until it looks like a fro with twists sitting on top of it.

kristina - is your bun tucked or loose? I couldn't really tell from the pic. Also, you know you shouldn't have me going back to your album lusting after your braidout! I tried doing it for MONTHS... and finally gave up!

zzirvingj - VERY cute!

tthreat08 - i am in the same boat with you! Girl, I tried Nioxin for my hairline and didn't see quick enough results. Now I'm trying some stinky stuff called Frenchee and trying not to pull my hair back to tight.

What a beautiful style. Very creative!

I agree very creative nappywomyn....

Thanks princess...afashionslave created a "double bun" pics in her album..

Netta & Carlie - Thank you! I was just t rying for SOMETHING that would let me stop making a part right down the middle of my head.....

Princess - I usually wash/get my hair wet on Saturday or Sunday morning, and I put it into a 'messy' flat twist then, just to stretch it out. Then, after it dries, I redo it, so that it's tight and smooth - I find that if I try to do them while my hair is wet, I usually end up making the twists WAY too tight, and it pulls on my hair as it dries.

You ladies all have such beautiful buns!! I'm terrifed of "loose hair" buns because I'm soooooo tenderheaded. I do pull my two strand twists into a pony, though.

Nappywomyn, I love that hair style! Can u give me some good tips on how you flat twist your hair in that style?

Yay!! Now that I'm at home, I can o to Fotki and check out all of the other lovely pictures!

DDtexlaxd: You've got a PM coming your way!
