Can you please tell me what you like so much about the butters? I CW daily. Will I still be able to benefit from it? There is a thread, but more relaxed ladies shared their regimen than naturals. Can ya please help me out?:D

I'm natural and I love butters.

I use a little bit of avocado, hemp seed, macadamia nut butter after I apply my leave in on freshly washed hair. I just smooth a little over my hair, especially the ends. It helps seal in the moisture and it leaves my hair so silky and shiny, the key is to use only a little, too much will make your hair greasy and clumpy.

Sometimes I mix a little butter with honey and then warm it to add to my deep conditioners. The results are always moisturized, silky and strong hair. Again, the key is to use a very small amount. I don't even bother with daily moisturizing when I use a butter after washing. My hair stays moisturized and shiny until I wash again.

I buy most of my butters and oils from From Nature With Love.

I too use avacado butter and love it! Did I say I love it? I apply a dallop to wet hair and it makes my waves pop!!. Plus it makes my hair soft and moist all day.

I use Burt's Bees Avocado Butter as a pre shampoo moisturizer treatment; and I also use it on my 2 strand twistout. It provides my natural hair with a ton of moisture and it's very light. And it makes my twists hang longer.

I love avacado butter thanks to Camellia and some others raving about it I finally tried it and it's the best. It's so creamy and moisturizing.

Yes you will still be able to benefit from them by cw'ing everyday because the butters seem to work best on wet or damp hair sealing the moisture in.

I also like Palm Red Butter a lot. It smells rather odd though but I like the fact that when I use it I can actually get a comb through my natural hair. I usually pre-poo with this and it really helps to de-tangle.

I get my butters from camdengrey.com.

It's so funny that you ask this, b/c I just got finished writing about this in another thread. For me, I only find butters necessary if I don't plan to wash for at least 4 days to a week. And that b/c they hold in moisture better than leave-in's.

But when I plan on co-washing I don't use butters b/c they're heavier and don't cowash out as well. Since you cowash a lot a butter may not be necessary for you. If you want to cowash less than a butter would be a great way to maintain moisture between washes. I use Qhemet's Olive and Amla Heavy cream as my cream/butter.

The creamy consistecy of butter that lacks the water or other ingredients, makes my hair feel really good and leaves it just coated enough to keep my hair moist without absorbing or evaporating later in the day.

it left my hair SOFT. it worked best on my twists :yep: I didnt like it for use after a WNG because it left a grey cast on my hair and I didnt use a lot.

I just started using it a few weeks ago. This last time I actually put on avocado oil after my leave-in and sealed the ends with the butter. I apply more to the ends during the week to protect the ends from drying out. So far so good my ends aren't dry and tangly yet.

I tried putting the butter on wet hair following my leave in but it didn't work as well for me. I need that layer of oil first.

Either way it keeps my ends from getting dry and rough feeling.

I would love to know more about the natural regimes. I am struggling with my natural hair texture right now and trying to train my hair not to go into the afro at every weather change.

Maybe I should wait to get avocado butter for now. All I can do is wash n go because my hair is short.:ohwell: I will look for more ways to use it in the mean time.:) XXXtacy, do you have enough hair to do protective styles? I can only wash n go for now because my hair is short. In the summer, it is more advantageous to do protective styling if u can. My shrinkage prevented me from doing strait styles anyway.

I cowash daily and I use avocado or hemp seed butter. I put it on wet hair directly after my cowashes. It keeps my ends in good shape.

A little goes a long way.

It leaves my hair incredibly soft! I use them in braid-outs and when I take the braid-outs out there is no stiffness just soft hair.

WARNING: Your BF/SO/DH may stay in your hair because it is so incredibly soft.
