Have any of you found that along with the deep conditioning that regular cowashing has helped you attain a better straightening result? Or has your result been the same whether you cowash or not.

most definitely not.
I don't prefer to cowash much at all, but when I've done it regularly for a week or so, I find that I probably need to clarify.
cowashing before straightening will result in heavy hair that has buildup and no swang for me.
i get all the moisture from my DC's.

Rocky91 Good to know! I was actually going through your post today. I guess I'll clarigy the night before and the deep condition, just to make sure.

Moisture is the key to a great flati iron.... but too much product overload can be problematic....
So - I would not co wash before flat ironing.....:look:

A girl at work who's natural (she's BSL and has fine hair) cowashed and flat iron her hair and she said she loved it. To me it looked very silky and moisturized. It gave her the weight she needed and she said it felt so moisturized. Since I have fine hair I would love to try this the next time I flat iron, don't know if I will get the same results though .

I don't co-wash before a flat iron. In fact, I do an overnight deep condition. I find that it helps my hair retain moisture and my straight style lasts longer.

Yeah I can't cowash before flatironing either, or I'll have too much buildup and alot of smoke coming off my hair. Good overnight DC, then a light sulfate shampoo and then a rinse off cheapy conditioner does the trick for me.

I worry about buildup on my hair before heat styling, so I usually shampoo and DC, followed by a cheapie cond. rinse. But lately I have been wondering if a light co-wash before blow-drying or flat-ironing would help me avoid frizz and keep more moisture in my hair. This is something I will try next wash to see whether it works or not. My hair is fine but thick as in density.
