I've had mine for quite a while but only use it 1-2 times a month if that and the coating is now coming off, soooo, I'll have to fork out another 24.99 for another year, lol!!

The FHI is the best one for my 4b natural hair.
It gets as hot as my pressing comb does on the stove.

How would you describe your experiences with the Maxiglide and Miniglide? Could you easily press your roots with them?

kinkylyfe said:Thanks danimani for starting the thread b/c a flat iron may work differently on relaxed hair than natural. Also, thanks scorpion for including your hair type cause I believe it also helps when choosing a flat iron.
I purchased the Babyliss Ceramic 2†pro flat iron a couple of weeks ago just to try it out and see my growth. I am mainly 4b hair type, the iron worked good on my hair & really got my hair & roots straight but my ends were FRIZZY. I used the Fantasia IC heat protector but it still did not straighten my ends. I returned the Babyliss b/c I was dissatisfied and I’m wearing braids now. Moving forward: I will wash, rollerset or band hair , use a heat protector then use a flat iron, hopefully that will help contorl my frizzy ends.
Have any of you experienced the frizzy ends also?

lana said:Hey there, I just wanted to say that I had Frizzy ends...before the maxiglide (laughs) I used to trim my ends needlessly because my 4a/b hair is just gonna look that way without a flat iron like the MG. Now I will say that blow drying the hair with an attachment makes a world of difference. I can't imagine air drying my hair and trying to flat iron, you're talking about breakage city.
But hey I'm texlaxed now, I wasn't when I first posted, and I still use the MG because it's gentle on my hair. I love my Sedu as a back up flat iron...it's just that those pins on the MG are there to help me get my hair straight and shaky. With the Sedu I would still get frizzy ends (even with a texlax!).
I hope this helps someone...cause you guys have helped me so much and now I love my hair!
CurleeDST said:Lana I am so with you. My ends would not get sleek with the chi or sedu...only the Maxiglide with the steam burst. That joint makes me hair straight, soft and sleek from root to tip.
Lana & CurleeDST - I usually have frizzy ends as well so your comments helped a lot. My question now is do the detangling pins pull your hair out? Do you see a lot of hair in the pins? Do you blowdry or airdry 1st?
Thanks.
For those that use the Maxiglide -- doesn't the steam burn your scalp? I've been flat-ironing my hair a few times and hit a damp spot and the steam flushes up the hair section and creates a hot flash against my scalp. Also - does the moisture from the steam revert your previously straightened hair at all? I'm interested but I want to know more about it first.
TIA!
