Hey Yall

I am newly natural did my BC Jan 2 2007 and haven't quite found the products for my hair yet that keep it moisturized throughout the day or give curl definition.

So....................

1. What is your hair type (if you know-I have found that what works for one type may not work for another)?
2. What are your two favorite shampoos (if you use them)?
3. What are your 2-3 favorite conditioners?
4. What are your favorite deep conditioning treatments?
5. What are your favorite oils/leave-ins?
6. What products give you the best curl definition?

1. 4a I think:look:
2. So far I have only been using VO5 Tea Therapy
3. Only used VO5 Tea Therapy and Hairvite Balsam and Protein(Dollartree)
4. Olive oil
5. ???????I have yet to figure this one out............

I am on a tight budget so anything $5 or less is ideal for me. I just ordered the following three products the other day:
224822754.jpg
224822750.jpg
224822748.jpg

As for my regimen, I co wash every morning and shampoo once a week. I apply oil to my scalp and hair and then put S-Curl Gel the blue stuff for waves and short cuts. Other days I will just grease my scalp put on a head band and pat my fro down so it looks even;)

1. 4A
2. Elucence Clarifying....the only one I've been using lately due to hard water...
3. Hello Hydration, Kenra, Honeysuckle Rose
4. Same as number 3
5. I use EVOO to seal...my leave-in is either Giovanni Direct or NTM
6. I never wear my natural hair out, so I never have to worry about curl definition, but when I want my waves to "pop" while in a ponytail, I use aloe vera gel and IC gel (pink-hard to hold)....

I just rediscovered Kid's Organics Shea butter, that stuff is great. I use it as my daily moisturizer then seal with EVOO and my hair is soooo soft!!!

HTH HHG...and congrats on the BC!!!!

ETA: I don't put anything on my scalp...

Hi and congrats!

Well, I am 4a and I love the following products. Not all of them or for a tight budget but I am of the mind that you get what you pay for. I would save a few more dollars and get some good stuff.:)

My hair has gone from above shoulder length (natural) to collarbone in 1 year on these products:

Shampoo:
Aveda Damage Remedy

Conditioner:
Nexxus Humectress
Aveda Sap Moss
LeKair Cholestoral
Oyin's Honey Hemp Conditioner

Leave In Conditioners and Moisturizers
Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Leave-In Conditioner
Nexxus Humectress
Oyin's Gregs Juice
Cantu Shea Butter Moisurizer

Curl Product or Other
Garnier Soft Curl Cream (for wash n' go's)
Fantasia IC gel
jojoba oil

Hope that helps!

1. What is your hair type: 4B

4. What are your favorite deep conditioning treatments?
Lustrasilk Cholesterol (Shea Butter and Mango), Motions Moisture Plus, and Elucence MB
5. What are your favorite oils/leave-ins? QB's Olive Cream, that's over your $5 limit
6. What products give you the best curl definition? I don't really have a curl pattern so nothing.

1. What is your hair type (if you know-I have found that what works for one type may not work for another)?

1. 3c,4a,4b
2. No Poo (Suave, Suave Professionals, VO5, and Praital Silkworm(sp))
3. UBH, and 10 En 1
4. Same as above
5. Oils: Johoba, Castor, EVOO, & Hot 6.
Leave-in: Nexxus Humectress, Headress, and MT Moisturizing(original)
6. I usually wear my hair in one pony, bun, in a clip, and newly trying twists so I don't worry much about curl defn.

I'll try best to help you out lol. These are my fav products for the moment, but I always like to try new things esp. shampoo and conditioner.

1. 4a/b
2. Elucence Moisture Balancing for now
3. Phytospecific Intense Nutrition Mask, will be trying Ojon Hydrating Conditioner next
4. same as #3, w/a plastic cap and maybe a conditioning cap (if I want to use heat) -- but I rarely condition more than the time I'm washing my body in the shower
5. My hair doesn't like oils so I don't use them. Still trying to figure out my leave-ins but I like: Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Milk, Anita Grant Cafe Latte Butter and Oyin Handmade's Greg Juice. I mainly use the milk or juice to refresh my hair between washings, and the cafe latte as a leave-in. These products can be bought online. Oh and I am trying out Jane Carter's Hair Nourishing Cream.
6. For me it's not a product that gives curl definition but a technique. I twist my hair in big plaits after washing, and at night before bed time -- this really stretches my hair (love to show my length!) and gives me curl definition.

Sorry the products I suggested aren't cheap but they do last a while. I finally figured out that my hair doesn't like heavy butters or oils. Products with water as the first ingredient are great for my hair.

As you see, I use Elucence for almost everything...deep condition, leave in, if I just think I need a quick moisture pick up, etc. I use other items like Happy Nappy Styles, Oyin Whipped Pudding, and Burnt Sugar Pomade. Since I use Elucence for so much, I'm going to try out a regimen of using just Elucence and coconut oil to style my hair and see how that goes! lol if it fails, I know I have back-ups.
