Naturals/Transitioners who airdry or have airdried before flat ironing

Could you post pics and/or share your technique? I have never airdried before flat ironing my hair (even while relaxed) and was wondering what the result may look like. I would like to flat iron for my birthday but I haven't gotten enough swagbucks to get a blow dryer with a comb attachment and I hate using a brush and concentrator nozzle. So I guess I will try air drying and was thinking of air drying in pony tails to kind of stretch the natural hair. Also share your products (not that I'm gonna go out and buy them:lachen: just interested)

You could also share stories of how air drying did NOT work for you! I'm not really sure if this will be a waste of time for me. I'm 4a btw

TIA!

ETA: Found this thread and posting for anyone who wants to see it. Maybe my answer lies in there http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=196649

Doin the bump for ya girl. I don't use much heat so I can't help you. I do airdry 90% of the way and then blowdry the rest when I do decide to flat iron.

I normally use a round brush so I can flatten my roots a little bit before hitting it up with the flat iron. That way I won't have to do too many passes on my NG.

I start off with my hair wet and looking like this:

Then I airdry before flat ironing using Curlformers to stretch (no product in hair):

Then I flat iron wet-to-dry using a spray heat protectant to wet my hair; then one more time with a heat protectant serum to seal my hair.

And these are the final results:

I've airdried in twists before flat ironing. I used RusticBeauty on Youtube's method. I usually don't feel like waiting though so I blow dry.

I haven't used a blow dryer since I started on my HHJ. Washing and detangling in sections makes wash day a breeze. After I finish detangling I usually keep the sections out for as long as possible and then I'll braid/bantu knot and go to bed. When I start flat ironing each section I use the chase method which gets my hair bone straight. People always think I've permed my hair again because my roots are so straight.

I'm 5 months post and I think I'm a 3c/4a mix. I use Trader Joes Nourish Spa Shampoo and Conditioner. I rotate between DC'ing with Aussie 3 min/ORS Replenishing OR I use that 2 min Aphogee protein treatment.
