Ok so i am transitioning, my last relaxer was 2/12/08 and I am trying not to bc anytime soon. I just had a few quick questions

  1. I was natural once a blue moon ago in 2004/5 and My hair seems like a different texture now than it was then. When I was natural then i was a stone cold 4b.... Just cotton nappy. Now that i am transitioning again, i am noticing much more of a curl to my hair pattern. more like 3b/3c. I will take a pic of my hair when it is dry. Has anyone had their hair do this...
  2. How are the naturals combating knots. That was one of the reasons that i couldn't stay natural was the knots and i was ripping my hair out trying to keep it together....
  3. Ummmmmmmm does anyone know how to shingle hair? can they teach me?
  4. Does anyone know how to make curly pudding...
I think those are all the deep burning questions i have.. lol Please answer them.....:yep:
My son told me to click the red face so:wallbash:

I had trouble with knots and tangling and have learned that it was my lack of patience and being too rough with my hair. I detangle, like many others, in the shower with my hair covered in conditioner. After that, combing/brushing is done. I have found the denman brush to be a DREAM and worthwhile.

The easiest way for me to explain shingling, take a section of hair, liberally and generously apply product and work it through with a wide tooth comb/denman.
Here's the Miss Jessie's tutorial:

I also am looking for a good, easy and moisturizing curly pudding recipe.

  1. Has anyone had their hair do this... No but now that I am 13 months into my transition I am seeing much more pattern than I previously had seen. I'm actually seeing hair that might coil. I've always categorized my hair as 4B but lately it is looking more 4a. I've eliminated direct heat since october. that may be the reason why.
  2. How are the naturals combating knots. That was one of the reasons that i couldn't stay natural was the knots and i was ripping my hair out trying to keep it together.... Dry combing or brushing is a :nono:no-no. Wet or damp detangling with the denman brush is the Key.
  3. Ummmmmmmm does anyone know how to shingle hair? can they teach me? Jessica Rabbit gave you the link.
  4. Does anyone know how to make curly pudding...

  1. Has anyone had their hair do this... Yep ... but not that drastic. I always knew that I was type 4 and I'm still a 4. However, my hair is a little coiler now than it was while transitioning. I'm not sure if the relaxed ends were weighing on my new growth or I was combing out the coils while transitioning. Not sure but my texture appears a little different now that I'm natural.
  2. How are the naturals combating knots. Definitely detangle on wet and/or heavily conditioner-coated hair. Don't dry comb. Depending on your hair type, you may need to dry your hair in braids or twists to help stretch the texture a bit and keep tangles/knots at bay. I have to do this; then I take down the twists for a twistout. The twistout allows me to wear my hair loose without tangling and knots.
  3. Ummmmmmmm does anyone know how to shingle hair? I don't know but keep in mind that shingling works for certain textures and not others. Since (if) you're type 3, it should work.
  4. Does anyone know how to make curly pudding... Aw man. I just saw the recipe for this floating on the web last week. Hopefully someone caught it.
