Naturals - Straightened my hair how to keep it straight?

Im transitioning and I was trying to style it into a professional pony bun so i flat ironed. I put some eco styler on one side and it reverted and became wavy. I want it to be stick straight and LAID.
Is there a gel or cream i can use on the edges that wont "activate" my curls?

Im not sure if i explained my dilemma correctly but HELP.

You can use on them them edge flatening products. I use Creme of Nature Argan Perfect Edges for now. I'm natural and flat iron. It lays me down for a while without reverting.

Avoid anything that is water based as it will make the curling happen. So gels are probably out if you're like me, a type 4, if you want to keep it from kinking back up.

Thank you i will look for it. Do they have it at Sallys? Yeah im a 4.

As mentioned stay away from water based products. Keracare and Bed Head has a wax stick that will slick your edges down. I would also put a scarf on my edges as well to give it that sleek stay down look.

If you are trying to lay your edges, I suggest a POMADE-like product which are typically made from oil and butters > brush with soft brush > tie with silk head scarf.

Like the poster above said, stay away from most water-based moisturizers. Your hair will revert.

Don't you be talking about my Eco!!!

I use Eco for amazing smooth edges however you have to tie it down smooth let it set... And dry. Flawless. Plus these "edge pomades" have way too many things in them going on... And Eco is cheap...

Btw type 4 with crazy edges... Water based things aren't really a issue just let it set and dry!

Simply_elle, how much product do you use on your edges for ideal results?

I was thinkin especially if you put a little oil underneath, and tied down with a scarf it should still lay the edges down. Do you just use a small amount of gel or does it take quite a bit? And do you do it every day in between washes or just the first day and it lasts?

IA with the scarf method. See if you can salvage your edges that way.

Also, beeswax has always given me good edge control whenever I needed it.

shockolate

Sorry for the late reply!

I use just enough gel to make my hands tacky then I smooth ALL my edge hair baby..teen...lol  I let it set and dry all the way through...Edge hair doesn't take long and you're only doing the edges and temples, nothing else.

I won't wash my face unless my hair is up and pulled away...It works for me, I have crazy crazy edges and have all my life..until my eco....

I hear you on the edges thing. I basically have no forehead LOL (hairline really thick and close to eyebrows at the temples but I love it anyway:grin:) so whenever I do my face scrub I get the exfoliant all in my hairline. I rinse it off in the shower, and when I'm out I oil my edges with my castor oil and use a satin scarf to lay them down if I'm wearing an updo, or just leave it be if my hair is going to be out. I leave it on until I'm done getting dressed or whatever and it's usually laid by that time.
