OP, you've been given a lot of great advice here, but I wonder if the problem you're having isn't a porosity issue?

As I understand it, the ends of the hair are the oldest, most fragile and often most exposed. Therefore, the cuticles can lift and cause the ends to split and become damaged.

Consider trying Roux Porosity control.

My hair is not very porous at all but in the past my ends have been less than pertty. I use the shampoo from time to time and my ends are a lot better! :yep:

Looks like you just either need to use a brush or comb with the flat iron,

or use an electric pressing comb.

Please don't cut!

I notice my ends are like that when they are very dry. A good moisturizing dc and straightening cream is essential for me to get straight ends

Hey ladies, again thanks for all the advice. This is only my 2nd time using heat since going natural in April and I did blow dry before the flat iron. I have not been kind to my hair the past several months so I'm gonna get back on track with that and see what happens

Do you wear your hair in straight styles a lot? Do you wear your hair in a style that requires your hair to be even all around? If you answer no to both of these questions then there is no need to straighten to trim. I am very anti heat. Heat isn't required to trim your hair.
No I don't wear straight styles at all. I can't trim my hair at all and there are no natural hair salons here that I know about. my stylist is great when it comes to trimming, I trust her to trim my hair when its straight vs not since that's what she's used to dealing with, just don't want to take any chances.
