I did my first intentional twist-out on my daughter's hair last night. I did the twists bigger than I do when I just want her to wear twists. I think it came out too thick in the top area.

I washed with Joico moisturizing shampoo (blue) after clarifying (been a while since last wash) and did a rinse out condition with Kera Care Humecto. Here it is still dripping wet with the top pulled out of the way.

I forgot a picture of the finished twists, but I used HE None of your Frizziness Smoothing Conditioner on each section before I twisted.

I rubbed a little almond oil on the scap and twists before she put on her bonnet last night.

Here's the after:

How do you like it? How can I improve?

I do have a specific question. Is there a way for her roots to be flatter, smoother, or less puffy? There were no rubberbands at the roots or anything before I twisted.

Wow your daughter's hair is gorgeous! Sorry I don't have any suggestions though, but I think you did an awesome job with the twistout.

I think it looks really cute as is, I bet it would be less puffy if you made the twists smaller though.

Ecostyler gel takes away the frizziness for my hair. It does weigh the hair down a lot though. I love your daughters hair, so beautiful!

Her hair is beautiful just the way it is (Check my avatar I am partial to poofy, puff, big hair!!!!)!!!!

I agree with everyone else! Beautiful...If the puffy roots bother you, maybe twist smaller, but I think it's simpy gorgeous the way it is!!

Thanks everyone. She loved wearing her hair out. She goes to a school with a lot of whites who always wear their hair hanging. Tomorrow she wants s ponytail for p.e.

Oh its so soft and a little shiny - well not dull it dry looking. I'm excited about transitioning!
