Hi ladies,

I am really excited to say that I have influenced three girls to go natural and BC. I am really excited to see more black girls embracing their hair and taking care of it. There is another girl who has expressed her desire to take better care of hair. I have found that leading by example does a lot more than talking about it. Most people want to see how you walk the talk instead of being talked down. I do not consider my hair long yet but it is amazing how people are so amazed by my hair length and the amount of it. I am so glad natural hair/ healthy relaxed hair is little by little seem to catch on. I am so tired of seeung busted weaves that would be better fit for a trash can on people's head. I think what has made a big difference with me is that I wear my hair confidently and have no hang-ups about it. I consider my hair like anyone else but a different texture that is it. I think some girls treat afro textured hair like an anomaly that needs correcting and it shows. When people ask me why my hair is like that I just respond:'' I prefer to wear my own hair than to buy it.'', trust me ladies these girls know nothing about protective styling, but I have seen more interest in the last year or so in natural hair which I am happy about.

Anyway I just thought I would share :)

Hey,

I am glad to hear that you are able to help others. I too have seen the natural hair explosion among my friends. Although I am not living close to them, I get to see them document their hair journies on facebook. The great thing is these ladies are making wonderful progress.

Whether natural or chemically treated, I am proud of all black women who have made a decision to grow long healthy hair. I can't wait for the day when seeing the average black woman with short hair will simply be viewed as a style choice as opposed to the thought that we can't grow long healthy hair.

Natural hair has definitely become more popular in the last few years. Even on LHCF I've seen the number of naturals increase dramatically from when I first joined. And I've inspired a few people I know to go natural as well, which is super flattering.
