natural ladies, how do you use UPA clips/ phony ponies?

I have 2 upa clips that I wish I knew how to use. I still have some length to gain, but I've been working on trying to put my hair in the clip. I can't figure out how to do this. My hair is short, but I figure if I start learning how to do this now, I'll be a pro at it when my hair gets 2" longer.
