Natural Isn't Always Good.

After giving an apple vinegar rinse an audition last week, I've decided to not use it again. Despite knowing the benefits of using this natural, organic product, it's not for me.

How do I know this?

I'm sitting here with half of my scalp burning and itching for days. I had an allergic reaction to it something fierce. My head went from tingling to tightening to outright burning. So, thankfully, since aloe vera gel is a hair staple of mine, my scalp's cooled down.

Before you ask: Yes, I used the 1/4 cup of ACV and 2 cups of water recipe (which I got from K.I.S.S.). Thus, it's product, not technique.

Lessons learned:

1) Bandwagons can suck. What works for one LHCF sister isn't necessarily a plus for you.

2) If it's natural and/or organic, be wary. Everything natural isn't good for you. :nono: Research like a sum mo' *****. If you're still nervous about trying something, leave it alone. It's called a hunch for a reason. Listen to it.

3) Aloe vera gel should be stocked in every home. It's wonderful for fiery heads :ohwell:

You are so right. I had a bad reaction to something in Kimmaytube's leave-in. AND my hair turned so hard, like bristles on a brush!

No more bandwagons for me either.

I personally never understood why using natural products was consideredd good. I realized that elucence peach shampoo gave me the worst irritation on my scalp and also most natural shampoos are more drying on my hair then the regular sulfate-laden chemical shampoo.

Well, I'm glad you figured out what works for you. Natural products aren't for everyone. I learned that just because it works for someone else doesn't mean it'll work me, and if my hair is already fine with what I'm using, then why should I ditch it to try something new? HHG!

I feel your pain I tried to join a challenge where u drink aloe juice. Well turns out I'm allergic to aloe. I even tried the gel blaming the other ingredients in my Natures Way Aloe juice and that didn't work out either. I came out with facial rash and swollen eyes for 2 weeks. A bunch of scabs on my scalp because I made a spritz with the juice and I can not resist scratching an itch. It sucks because I just knew aloe would be one of my staples, smh oh well.

Definitely what works for one does not work for everyone! I'm glad that you had the aloe on hand! Lesson learned :yep:

Yea, I agree with you. You definitely have to know the pros and possible cons with using products.

Back when the baking soda thing was popular, I used it for a little while and it worked for me. BUT it started to slowly lighten my hair color. I didn't know that was possible w/ baking soda at the time. This happened two years ago and I'm still growing out patches of dark brown hair. Now it's about half way down my hair length. I miss having all black hair. :ohwell:
