Natural Hair is unmanageable!

I think it can be hard esp. when its shorted. But you get used to it.
When I get tired, I just put it in braids so I can get a break.

OMG!!!:thud: I came in here ready to see some ignorance and instead got pleasantly surprised to see my girl RusticBeauty!!! Yes yes yessssssss:yahoo:

PREACH sista PREACH!!!!:meme::yep:

I have like every vid on her channel memorized:look: no lie:giggle: she's one of my biggest HairSpirations:infatuated:

How funny. When I asked about it, my mom told me that she relaxed my hair at age 10 to make it more "manageable". I still don't know what that means. Yeah, it's curly, but it's definitely manageable.

Great video. I'm doing a protein treatment this weekend and trimming while in it's straight state. Great style idea.

She made a great point: natural hair is not unmanageable. If you can't manage it, that's on you. :yep: I have never once thought my hair was unmanageable, and to the extent that I've had difficulty with it is solely based on my inability to take care of it, not with my hair itself. :yep:

Thanks for posting, OP. :yep:

I have extremely tightly coiled hair, I lovingly refer to my type as 4wtf. It's thick, it's dense, and it's course. I discovered during last nights detangling session, that my relaxed hair tangled and matted far more than my natural hair does. I wore my hair in an afro for 2 weeks. I didn't detangle it, and I didn't sleep with a bonnet (I used me satin pillow case). I broke out some conditioner, my denman, whispered a lil prayer and got to work. After I detangled my ends (say the last 1/2" of my hair or so), the comb glided right through the rest of the length like a hot knife through butter. My hair is actually more manageable and less tedious and time consuming now that I'm natural. :yahoo:

 Wow. Lucky you! That couldn't be me.

I'll have to listen to this video later, after I turn in my dissertation draft in a few hours. (what, I can have a 10 minute break! my brain is smoking). I'd love to hear the definition of "manageable" she has. I've been natural for most of my life and even made it to a decent length, so clearly I can manage my hair. I ain't gonna front like it's easy, though. I suppose that is on me, though, given I wear my hair in ways other than Celie braids and constant cornrows (can you tell I'm bitter?).

This right there made me laugh out loud!!!!!:lachen::lachen::lachen:

The hell if I know what type it is. It's 4 something...possibly 5 wtf. :lachen::lachen::lachen:

The very thread I ever made was one where I wondered if there was such a thing as 5B hair!:rofl: If anyone has it, it's surely me. :yep: My hair is very, very tightly coiled. It's kind of cool to play in it. :yep:

My mom said the same thing. My hair has never been unmanageable. I have a ton of it, so caring for it can be time consuming. My mom is lazier than I am :lachen:

Love, love, love my natural hair since my big chop. I love the weekly discovery of something new to love about it. I feel as though I've discovered a brand new me! I love the way those few with seriously silly, obvious weaves feel the need to toss and rake their fingers through the dead peoples's hair when close to me..they must think I want what they have:nono:, takes a ton of adulthood to refrain from doing more than smiling at the total artiface upon their skulls-not even artiface as it is not cunning at all!!

This thread, and the Chris Rock thread, are making me want to take my weave down and play in my natural hair! But I don't want to break off my progress... I'm trying to stay protective styled up until I reach full WL....

My Nigerian sisters be repping!!! I love it, she makes such valid points. I'm the laziest person on earth and my natural hair is thriving.

Ugh...I am just waiting for this texturized part of my hair to go away ............. Can someone give me a rough estimate on how much new growth they had after 6 months?

People's lame excuse or not, She shouldn't bother getting so defensive because other peoples choices, shes makes GOOD points but you can't speak for other people. Because no matter how many testimonials you hear you can only TRULY go by your own experience and your own head of hair.

Like for instance ... I personally know a few people who drop out of college their first year because they claim college is not for them, which I sometimes feel like its a BS excuse, but you know what, maybe it really is not for them and their not willing to go through it regardless of how beneficial it maybe. Even if it truly is a lame excuses you kind of got to flow with it because its their life and they are the ones living it.

Don't get me wrong I agree that people are lazy and make lame excuses but meh.. what you can you do, why divide our selves over it

She makes a valid point. I'd like to hear from the women with longer natural hair that state it takes them hours to detangle.

My hair is definitely not unmanageable. When you go from relaxed to natural you have to learn a whole new way of doing your hair. That in itself can be frustrating.

And this is it in a nutshell.
