I know this may be a bit far-fetched  but I was wondering if anyone mixes up their own concoction for cowashing?

I am trying to rid myself of as many commercial hair products as possible and so far I only use Suave to cowash and EcoStyler gel ( which is waaay better than aloe vera gel so I am not giving that up!:nono:). Any suggestions?

i have used both eco styler and aloe vera gel and i beg to differ. lol

wouldn't that be more expensive then buy a cheap 99¢ conditioner depending how often you co-wash?

Whoa, weirdness: I was just thinking this as I was cowashing this morning! You see all natural DCs, moisturizers, butters, but never instant conditioners for cowashing...

I know the member Lucky'sMom(SamanthaJones) makes her own conditioner. I don't know if she still posts but maybe she'll see this thread and help you out.

Natural* conditioners I've used for co-washing that I like are:

Nature's Gate Conditioners
Dessert Essence Conditioners

I'm about to test out another natural* conditioner called Everyday Shea that I got from the health food store.

(* = it's not 100% natural because it has other ingredients, like fatty alcohols, but it is advertised as natural)

There are companies that make all natural conditiioners like myhoneychild and karens body beautiful. Their just really expensive. I'm talking between $16-$18 for 8 ounces. You'd be better off using something like giovanni smooth as silk con which you can get for around $35 for a gallon. It can be used as both a instant con and a deep con.

I use more of the natural products for cowashing from HV, SSI, Shea moisture. I didn't realize that my hair really doesn't like cones until 3-4months after my BC when I switched just to see what would happen. My hair has been way happier since the switch.

I do agree it is more expensive but if it keeps my hair happy and healthy then I just rearrange my budget to allow for it. I buy most of my stuff on sale. The Tresemme Naturals is a new "like" for cowashing and is fairly inexpensive.

You could try coconut milk or coconut cream mixed with an oil for cowashing?

You could try:

J/A/S/O/N
Millcreek
Aubrey Organics
Natures Gate
Alba Botanica
Dr. Bronners
Giovanni

These are a 'few' natural based products that are actually pretty reasonably priced and you get a fair amount of product.:yep:

Trader Joe's Nourish Spa is excellent!

I agree! You get 16oz for $3. Great ingredients: Purified water, organic rosemary oil, organic valencia orange citrus, organic mango, organic lemongrass, organic ginko biloba, organic echinacea, organic willow bark, organic sea kelp, organic chamomile flower, organic textured soy protein, organic lavender, organic grapefruit citrus, Tocopherol (Vit E), Acetamide MEA, Cetyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, propylparaben, botanical fragrance.

I add coconut oil or EVOO for deep conditioning. Add aloe vera juice and coconut oil and it make a daily moisturizer.
