Are phoney ponys a decent protective style if you are gentle on your sides when slicking it back? Do you know where I can find one online? Every BSS around here has those springy coiled with silky textured strands that look really fake and weird on me. 
Currently, my NL hair is way to short to sport my own. It would be nice to put these strands up and protect my ends for growth. I wore wigs and half wigs all last summer and fall and am really tired of them for now.
I was thinking a nice small-ish size puff with a twist-out look made of fine strands (synthetic or human) would nicely match my natural 4b twist-out style. It has to look like a 'fro, though, not that springy-coily stuff.
