I only watched the first minute, but the way she pulls and wrings her wet hair and the wash techniques designed for nothing but tangles and too much product (imo)- I stopped watching after that.

1. Pushing hair forward to wash (causes tangles)
2. Putting shampoo throughout the hair and not just on scalp
3. Scratching her scalp that hard (to much manipulation)
4. WAY too much shampoo
5. She used half as much conditioner as shampoo

First of all, she used way too much shampoo both times! You don't need that much shampoo to wash your hair. The first time, most of the shampoo fell into the sink:nono:

She put her hair in a ball to wring out the water:nono:

She should let the water remove most of the shampoo from the hair, not pulling her hair that way.

The other things...I'm not sure.

1. Pushing hair forward to wash (causes tangles)
2. Putting shampoo throughout the hair and not just on scalp
3. Scratching her scalp that hard (to much manipulation)
4. WAY too much shampoo
5. She used half as much conditioner as shampoo
I do wash my hair this way, and I don't get tangles at all.

really? i wash my hair in the sink all the time
(i usually don't film a vocal commentary)

It's not about washing your hair in the sink, it's the way she did it. When she's washing her hair and scrubbing and subbing back and forth is a recipe for tangles. I only watched the beginning, but she put shampoo on her hair and not her scalp. Maybe she did later?

i don't know - i think her hair looks pretty so, its working for her. i didn't see any tangles in that clip.

I can't get over how much shampoo she used... GEES.

but her hair is pretty... she's natural right? makes we want to transition to natural... hmmmmmm.

The only problem I saw was the amount of shampoo she used. She made a point to say that she was wringing her hair gently and massaging gently so I don't have an issue with her techniques. I guess I don't see what the big deal is with this video :ohwell:

OP, What are the top 5 mistakes in the video?

Like some have mentioned it must be working for her I guess. To me personally I felt like she used way too much shampoo and wasn't really putting it on her scalp - shampoo is for the scalp, conditioner is for the hair - but rather on her hair and just scrubbing:nono: instead of massaging the scalp with the shampoo.

Were y'all able to tell if she's relaxed or natural? Her hair reverted a bit with water so I think she's natural?

I usually wash in the shower with my head back. Now that some of it touches past mid back (a small amount albeit) I prefer not to wash it in this fashion.

On other had I recall once or twice in last couple of weeks being in a hurry the a.m. after an overnight baggying of my ponytail so I grabbed my shower head, kneeled down on the bathroom floor and rinsed out the condish hanging my head over the tub. But, that was an exception vs. the rule.

My guess her 5 mistakes were:

1. piling all of her hair on top of her head to wash
2. Using a 2nd lather of shampoo when the 1rst was sufficient for clean hair and scalp.
3. Saying that the hair will come out silky and shiny if 2 lathers are used the way that she used it.
4. Washing her whole head instead of just her scalp
5. I'm guessing that a lot of people will say that #5 is her washing her hair in the sink, but personally, I don't see anythin wrong with that.....so I'm hoping # 5 would be using too much product when it doesn't take as much as she used to get her hair clean.

Did she say that heat was the safer than other forms of heat? What other forms of heat does she mean

She's very rough on her hair and her daughter's hair. If I treated my hair like that I wouldn't have any left!

I can't believe a word that she says about those products anyhow. Not what after happened to Hairlove.

I don't mind the sink, I'm just  that she's washing her hair instead of her scalp

1. She put shampoo on her hair, not her scalp.
2. Shampooing twice?
3. Piling her hair on tope of her hair.

And that's all I got.

Well, it looked as if its working for them so I don't know if I can say that what they are doing is a mistake.

I agree!

Well neither am I, I was just perplexed by the statement, as I'm trying to work out what heat could be worse than flat ironing...

Oh, my first comment was not directed at you. That was just my general comment on the subject. I was just agreeing with your two quotes that I commented on.

Ya'll would hate to see how I wash my hair if the amount of shampoo she used bother ya'll. :lachen:

Seriously, what works for some, doesn't work for others. My hair is extremely dense, and there is NO WAY that I could only wash my scalp. So, I was my hair too. And I sometimes I do it twice if I'm clarifying and my hair still feels oily/dirty.

ETA: I'm one of those people that don't feel like my hair is getting clean if the shampoo is not lathering. But that's just me.

Her combout was WAY too harsh. She was riping through her hair with the comb. :nono:

ETAA: And I am super jealous about how straight her hair got just from the blowdryer, even though I can't stand to see someone blowdrying hair anymore. Simply because I know what it does to my hair.

I'm still watching video 2. I am now hating on how much movement her hair has. I mean she just moving her hands basically, and her hair is SWANGIN!!! :lachen:

I finally heard that flat ironing is better than other heat statement. Maybe she's talking about hot combing.

ETA: On video 3 now. Dang her daughter has a lot of hair. Having to deal with hair like that on wash days is what made me relax again. :lachen: Umm...why didn't she detangle her hair when it still had conditioner in it??? See, that's the stylist's way of doing things, and that's why I don't go to them.

I like her kitchen though. :lachen:
