I used to wear these about 10 years ago. It's pretty hard to explain, maybe someone else can explain them better, but I'll try.
They were braids using human hair, but your hair was only braided (not cornrowed) about an inch or so, then it was secured with thread. The rest of the hair wouldn't be braided but loose and intertwined along with the fake hair, but it would look like your hair. I had them in the middle of my head so it would blend really well.
I hope this explains them. At least this is what we called invisible braids years ago. You may be referring to something else. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif
What I know as invisible braids are very tiny micro braids that are so small people call them invisible because from afar you cant see the braids it just looks like strands of hair.
I thought invisible braids were when you get a partial head sew in weave (leaving some hair out on the top) and then using individual micro braids to cover the track.
I don't know what they are, but here is what I found:
~ Invisible Braids - Create a weave using individual plaits. This allows the client maximum versatility. These weave techniques offer the health of braiding with the look of free flowing hair. Maximum versatility.
~ These are individual braids that are braided down a half inch and then secured. Plus, the client’s hair beyond the secured ends will be left loose along with the extensions.May take 3 – 5 hrs to create and will last 2 – 3 months.
***It says that this model's real hair is used for the interlocking. ***

Thanks LMY,
This is what I was talking about, but my entire head wasn't braided. Just a portion in the middle, so when I wore it down or pinned up, you would never see the braided portion, because my hair would cover it.
Thanks TigerL. I may get some of those when I get braids. The cornrows with the bumps always made more hair shed like crazy around my edges. That's why I stopped getting extension 'rows.
