My Weave--The Saga Continues

SOmeone please talk me out of removing this stuff! I CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!! My head itches SO bad! I tried moisturizing, BRX braid spray, and even going through my head with a hair pin to attack it.

Nothing works!

I am wondering if I am allergic to the EXPENSIVE Indian Remy hair she used. Trust me, I am trying to hold out since I spent $500 on this hair, but comfort is priceless.

Will washing help? I feel like my scalp can't breathe which is making me itch worse. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLP!

What type of weave do you have?? Sew-in, Glue??

With my sew-in I wash my hair and the weave hair, every 5 -7 days. Moisturize my scalp as well.

$500 Indian Hair?? Which brand did she use?

I had that same problem once and I almost died from scalp irritation. I had to drench my scalp with different oils (MTG, coconut, alma, WGO, gueye, etc). The oil that helped most was Dr. Miracle Healing oil because it gives a tingling sensation to the scalp which resulted in a smoothing feeling afterwards. If I did this at night to get some sleep, I would have to do it again and again the next day. I paid about $500+ for the hair but I couldn't go any longer with the weave than 3 weeks. It also tore my edges out (the hair dresser braided and sew the hair in too tight) and with the constant scratching and pulling, my edges went. It has still not grown back fully since 9-06. I will not be weaving or braiding anytime soon.

I guess I can't be much help because I recently removed my weave after 3 days. But I only spent $20 on the hair.

$500!!?? Where did you get that hair from? indianhairs.com is 1/5 that price.

Anyway, that is off topic. I think you should try to leave in in a little longer if you think the loss would bother you.

Personally I have found Better Braids medicated leave in better for the itching than BRX braid. I like the leave in better than the actual braid spray.

If you don't think the loss with bother you, get it removed. I figured the loss I had (almost $300 including the weave service and hair) was just a costly lesson that weaves are not my thing. It was worth it because I feel like myself again.

Honeydew... I think we are two peas in a pod. This may not be the style for me. I am going to try a little longer, but I may end up removing it.

As for the $500...Supposedly this lady has such a specialized technique. I chose her because she does not braid or glue the hair. It's hard to explain how she built the foundation. She placed my hair in a lot of small bantu knots and created a grid system between them with thread. She then threaded the tracks onto this system. We talked about how this technique is so much better than corn rowing underneath because it eliminates the "bumpiness" and gives a more authentic look. SHe also used a lace attachement on the top.

I dunno...like I said--it just seems like my hair can't breathe, and though it was about 6 years ago, I don't remember feeling this much discomfort from past weave. Back then I just used cheap hair and I remember it raveling.

I'll give it a few more days, but I really want to just rip it out NOW!!

It may be the technique that is causing the itching. It may loosen up soon.

Do you remember the name of the technique she used. it sounds interesting.

I got a non-traditional technique once called Interlocking (pic in my album), but it NEVER itched. It was also very expensive.

Girl, I tried to convince you in your other thread because I would hate to see you throw that money away.

Would cleaning your scalp with sea breeze or using the ORS Herbal Cleanse help? http://www.organicrootstimulator.com/products/herbalcleanse.htm

Maybe it's a moisture issue and not an allergic reaction. Hopefully a weave expert will post with better solutions. In the meantime, do a search on weave care and moisturizing on the forum. You might find other ways or products for moisturizing.

In the end, you know your hair and scalp. If you can't take it anymore, take it out.

Have you tried to wash it yet? It sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to the hair. It could be coated with something. Where did you get the hair? The method you mentioned sounds like Dominican knots. It also could be the technique. But I think it's the hair...

Did you wash the remy hair before you had it weaved in? Washing may help.

ITA...I wore a weave for about 7 years off and on and I've experimented with many brands of hair. Sometimes if one seemed too itchy, I would rinse the hair with vinegar and water and it worked very well for me. HTH.

I agree with victorious, before your pour all that money down the drain try some sea breeze. Another method that works is using witch hazel, put it in a spray/nozzle bottle and squirt on your scalp, it really works. Finally a product that the ladies from BHM.com rave about is anti-itch scalp treatment from kimble products.

Hey, has anyone ever tried the silicone lined micro-rings? I am thinking of trying that after I quit my job. Heiffers always up in my head.

I haven't had a sew-in since High School.

I know exactly how you geel OP. I had just put a sewn in weave with expensive Remi hair too and that ish itched like no man's business. I put in Thursday night and I was ready to take it out by Friday Morning. It itched and itched and itched. Finally on Saturday I decided to wash my hair/weave with with shampoo and conditioner and I saw a lot of the color/dye coming out of it but ever since then the itching is there but more bearable now post wash then before. I'm going to wash it again this Saturday but I don't know if it's going to last that long because I am already tired of it. :perplexed

Not to sound stupid, but are you sure it's the hair?
The only reason I ask that is because I'm actually allergic to the thread from the BSS. When my mother did weaves a long time ago, the weaving thread was very different. It was almost like really heavy dental floss (if that makes sense), but you could not use your hands to break it into two. You had to use scissors. When I had weaves in, my scalp itched constantly. I was paying attention to where it was bothering the most and it was exactly where the thread touched my scalp. I scratched so hard I had scabs in my head!
That's just my opinion. :)

Also especially based on what you described I would think the itching could also be due to how tight she created these bantu knots. Any itching Ive ever had has been due to the braids themselves being too tight or the thread pulling on the braids too much.
