A sista is getting weak! I have not had a perm in 17 weeks and I am holding on by the skin of my chinny chin chin!! I have been wearing fony ponys and falls. Right now I ahve corn rows that are looking shabby thanks to my SURGE. I am getting human hair braids friday (I am so excited!!!) and I plan to kee them untilk April when I will get it straightened and style d for a wedding I am in. I may even get a quick weave for the wedding if I can not find someone to do a pretty pressed up style. Anyone have any good experience with humna hair braids? And advice? I need it because I am trying my hardest to hold on!

I'm transitioning too and braids are a great way to help with your transitioning process. They can also be done in a variety of upstyles suitable for the wedding. If the bride is having you guys all have a "uniform" hair style (I've seen this before) and this is why you have to get it pressed, then ofcourse you'll have many styling options like this as well.

NOw, to help keep you on your goal of transitioning, first of all that's GREAT that you've gone 17 weeks!! You are to be commended. Have you tried twist out styles??? These are great to help with merging the two textures and their sooo pretty! I've gotten nothing but compliments since transitioning. I have 1.5 inches of newgrowth, but with twist outs and scrunching with Scurl, it makes it very very easy to transition! Now if I could just keep away from the scissors!!! :-) Hope this helps!

I'm transitioning and I have to say just relax and hold on to your goal. My last relaxer was Easter of 2003. I am doing pretty good. I had my hair braided for about 2 months. I hotcombed it the other day. I also just wear my hair in cornrows everyweek.
It helps me to be less occupy about my hair and on my school work. (I am a junior in high school.) For my 16th birthday Feb. 19, 2004 I will have my hair done in a straight style.
All I have to say is that I was like you worried and willing to give up. Just remember stay with your goal. There are people on this forum that are here going through what you're going through. Good Luck.

Thanks ladies, Coco sure I don't wear twist outs because of my layers....my hair doe snot look right just yet but hopefully these braids will give me the few inches I need where a twist out will look pretty again. my hair really grows well when I do my braid outs and CON washes every 2 days. I ahve also been using Surge....so we will see. I am taking my cornrows down to put a rinse on my hair and a deep conditioner in prepartion fro my braids. I am SO excited. I am very proud of myself because ususlly by now I would have relaxed.

I recommend alternating with a braided style, or a partially braided style (a partially raided style helps you get used to being natural and learn along with your hair).

Hey former hair buddy..

I'm sorry to have done the BC and left ya hanging..so to speak.. but hang in there. From what I know about you, you're not for short hair and you wear yours well! I'd suggest you keep up w/ the cornrows

I will be alternating between braids and cornrows until I gained enough length to do braidouts...
Last night when I washed I even toyed with the big chop idea. I ahve over 2 inches new growth......just a thought.

that's a lot of new growth.. I think alternating works. But if you ever decide to do the BC, I've got my
