MY SUCCESS WITH MSM (PIC INSIDE)

Almost 3 weeks ago, i began an intensive MSM experiement to increase growth and to aid a smoother transitioning progress, i've noticed a dramatic texture change in the new hair that is growing through the scalp, its looser and very wavey and i have a lot of growth, I've read posts on ladies experiecing good growth and softer hair but i never thought it would work for me, with all these waves and softer hair i may not ever texturize again. I only have one pic though i took other ones but they weren't as clear, i''ll have some more pics in a few months i want to acheive a good few inches of MSM hair to really show the difference, i know a lot of you ladies are very skeptic,. here's the link http://public.fotki.com/den1/progress_pics/msm_experiement/ pw. myhair

Its amazing if your texture has changed after only 3 weeks! Most supplements take up to 3 months to really show their effects. Has you hair type changed or just the texture?

I think the dramatic change in texture is due to the fact i've been taking a high dose between 10,000-14,000mg daily with water., i actually brushed the section and removed some hairs, i checked the hair roots and i'm suprised how much straighter the curl pattern is in comparsion to the MSM deficent hair, even my niece commented while she was braiding my hair. i've always had very tight s curls, i'm not going to make any claim that its changed my hair type which is naturally 4a/3c but it is looser, it just means it'll be easier to transition now......

Sounds pretty good! I hope i'll have similar results too. I've been taking 10g of OptiMSM daily and i'll be checking in December to see what changes have taken place. Anything that can keep the chemicals away can't be a bad thing right! :D

How much Vitamin C do you take?

You know what i haven't taken any VITAMIN C is it suppose to help with the absorbtion? If MSM helps keep chemicals away from my hair then i'll continue to take it, even if i stopped taking this Lignisual crystal form i'd continue to eat foods rich in sulphur and still receive the same benefits. I'll be updating again in December too. GOOD-LUCK

Congrats! How much growth did you get during those 3 weeks? Did the MSM affect any other hair beside new growth.

Vitamin C is vital for optimal absorption. There are many MSM products which come with Vitamin C included! I take 6g (Buffered Ascorbates) per 10g of MSM.
Here is some information:

8. MSM, together with Vitamin C (a free radical scavenger) helps the body build healthy new cells.
9. MSM, along with Vitamin C, helps reduce scar tissue and wrinkles, and helps keep the skin more elastic.
10. MSM, along with Vitamin C, helps the hair and nails grow stronger and faster.
11. MSM has been shown to improve mental alertness.

Thank-you very much for the info hopefully this will increase my results.

WOW!! I guess it's safe to take MSM with Vitamin C. I was thinking about ordering Freeda Vitamin C Crystals. I'm going to order the MSM crystals also. My question is do I mix the two together or take one after the other? Does it matter?

They are best taken at the same time.

If my new growth is already coming in wavy, what would happen after taking MSM? I'm curious about the product since I am always looking for ways to make the transition easier.

I wish you much success with the product Den.

Den, you're such an inspiration! Can u please tell me which flat iron you use? I'm looking for a good one that works on wavy, curly hair! :)

Thanks, i hope i keep getting these good results!!! there's no way of really telling how it will work unless you try it, usually it takes at least a few months to tell whthe its working, in my case only three weeks. I read some people have received the opposite effect. Good luck if you decide to try it.

Thanks girl!!!!I don't use flat irons on my hair anymore, the one my old stylist used on my hair last year was by babyliss, i use solid ceramic on people's hair that i style, sorry i can't remember the brand name..

Den, your hair looks very strong. I have a few questions for ya. I have the hardest time trying to drink my msm mixed with water. I dont know if I am not using enough water or maybe I am putting too much in the water. I put one table spoon in 8oz of water. It was so bitter! The other thing is that I have the powder form do you think that is the problem? Should I just use the crystal form? I don't know what to do.

sorry to butt in...
maybe you should drink it in juice. i use the powder form also, and i find doing this masks the taste better. or even in a freshly made fruit smoothie.

I usually drink mine in 1.5 litries bottle, that way i don't taste it as much, i also drink it with diluted prgange juice. Personally i find the crystal form far more potent than the powered MSM
HTHs DEN1.

Somewhere at the beginnign of this thread, someone asked if Den was putting the MSM directly on her hair. I actually did this today, but don't know about the results as I am still stitting here with my shower cap one. Here's what I did (and hopefully, I'll have some great results to report later on!)...I mixed my conditioner mix (of which I couln't even begin to tell you what it contains since I mixed it so long ago, but I do smell cod liver oil) with powdered MSM that I had mixed with water. I then juss applied it directly to my hair. I've been sitting around the house since about 10:30 this morning with this stuff. I'm planning on doing a rinse with the remaining water/MSM after I rinse this all out, and before I conditioner wash. Wish me luck!

Great, let me know the results!!!I've never tried applying to my hair before. good luck.

I have tried it on my hair and it left it feeling strong, thicker and the strands felt smoother. I do it when I am near the bottom of my MSM older bottle just before I open the new one to take with my smoothies. Bonjour

YES! MSM in your conditioner is a good idea! I was wondering how it would turn out, and everything was great! My hair came out strong - hadrly any shedding or breakage during the washing (I have a serious problem with shedding), and hardly any of the shedding or breaking during the combing. Gotta do this again!

Is there a danger of taking too much MSM? I recently started taking MSM and I am a bit nervous about taking too much of it...
