I bc'd july 2010, but unevenly (I had a style cut where the back was short and the front a little longer). so I have about 3.5 inches in the back and 5..mmm, maybe 6 in the front. I'm a 3c 4a (I think), with a patch of 4b in the middle that is really giving me problems with breakage. That patch (I'm not lying) is like 1.5 inches. It shrinks up to .5 inches when its wet, while the rest of my hair hangs when its wet (still shrinks when dry). I mean, doesn't everyone get elongnation when hair is wet!! But not Patch. And she is mmm, maybe fist sized in the middle of my head.
I had problems Patch even when I was relaxed, but now I see its because its probably different from the rest. What I used to do is just let the rest of my hair grow longer to the point where Patch would not be so noticible. And its like, the only style that looks right on me is a puff...mainly because Patch is in the middle of my hair and the puff kind of hides it. But puffing too much is making the rest of my hair angry and tangled. Anyway, the whole reason I even went natural was because I thought relaxers were too stressful for Patch and maybe she'd grow like the rest of my hair...but no.
I tried to get a sew in for the first time, because my hair is making me sad...but that was a waste. Mainly because I let my friend do it (she does her own and they're pretty). But mine was *feeeked up*, so we took it down yesterday.

Anywho, I'm in the middle of doing a wash. I guess ill put up pics. I know this is long...but I'm just soooo frustrated right now. I feel like crying real tears from my real eyes...

My suggestions:

- Get your cut evened out.
- Find the detangling tool that works best for you. Tangle-free hair has the best curl definition, usually. I really like the Tangle Teezer.
- Find a better conditioner. The first pic looks like you have build up and you need to clarify. I use Kinky Curly Knot Today as my leave-in and Giovanni's Smooth as Silk as my conditioner and it works well for me. I'm also 3c/4a.
- Cheer up, this is a natural JOURNEY not a destination or a race. You will experience good and bad days. Embrace them all. Plus, we have your back here in LHCF. :yep:

The first picture is full of conditioner or oil or something, I don't remember, its from when I was still trying to figure out my hair type. And I kind of decided againt cutting my hair even, because the rest of it will grow out but Patch stay short while the rest grows out. And I use those same products! Lol. What else do you use

I wouldn't recommend every strand being the same length, but at least cut it into a shape. I notice at your nape one piece hanging lower than the rest. That's what I mean by cutting it even. I use a cheap VO5 shampoo every other week and I don't use much else other than experimenting with things. U may need to DC with a protein based conditioner if your hair feels too mushy. I don't DC as much as I should but I think you should play around with that and see if that changes anything.

Also, try protective styling for a while where you don't have to look at your hair much. And keep "Patch" stretched as must a possible with braid or twist outs. No more air-drying, wash n go's, or puffs.
