Ok y'all I am a newbie and my hair is so damaged and fine/thin...I kinda look like the crypt keeper! Don't get me wrong my hair has drastically improved since I joined this board. Anyhoo, I have been on my protective styles but lost my phony pony! So I....um...took a wig and wrapped it around my bagged ponytail. My sister called me ghetto! I thought it was passable....oh well....my ends were protected. Here is a link to my...um ghetto do?

Um..I have to agree with your sis, it is ghetto. But like Rea, I would rock it too. You gotta do what you gotta do. Plus, anything is better than what I am walking around looking like these days. :lachen:

that is ghetto to use a wig to wrap around your hair! :D
...but i think it's a cute style...looks nice & kinda classy! :)

OK OK OK! I truly know it was ghetto but, I was going to an event where...um...lets just say I was the only piece of chocolate in the candy jar! I figured they wouldn't know the difference!!!! :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

That is too funny. :lachen: I'm going to have to use that line. Also, I am sure you got tons of comments anyway. It looks cute though.

It doesn't look ghetto at all...it just sounds ghetto when you describe what you did to get that look!

All that matters is that you were working it anyway!

I agree with Falon. You made do and your hair turned out very cute.

The method may be ghetto, but the result is cute! Hey, we all have 'ghetto' ways of doing things, so I am not mad at you!

you were just being creative you used the resources that you had ....if i had to go out i would have done it too girl...lol

it looks cute....

I like the word "urban," though I'm still not quite sure why that word is used to describe 'Black' styles. So, I would call the style "urban".

You said you were going out, which is a good reason to do your hair like that. But, the receptionist at a company I worked at for about two years wore her hair in a 'high' style very similar to that every single day! She sprayed it with hairspray so it would be rock hard and stay put for weeks at a time -- the same exact style every time. Her hair was a pretty color and she said it was long, so I always wondered what it would look like if she wore it out. When I happened to run into her several years after I'd left the company, her hair was in the same style though.

I remember her telling me once that a white clerk in a store asked her if her head hurt from wearing her hair like that all the time, so she asked the woman if her face hurt from being so ugly all the time.

It was ghetto, but you were very creative in recycling your old wig. I was laughing but astonished because I would have never thought of using a wig for a pony tail. You go girl (with your creative self).

I have to agree with the ghetto part, but I would wear it on occasion like someone mentioned ealier. Ghetto or not, you are truly working it...it looks really good on you :).

I don't think it looked ghetto. It just looked like a formal style and you were dressed appropriately to wear it. Now if you had a bunch of sparklies in it and it was plastered to your head THAT would be ghetto!( I saw a lady with the exact style I described a few days ago).
