Yes, I have given up the majority of the herbal because some of them are hard to find and there are old-school products out there that have incorporated a lot of these ingredients for years. Although I will keep my coconut oil, henna and amla powder, I'm giving up trying to find JBCO, Haitian castor oil, Dabur (altho easy to find...I hate the smell) etc. I am switching back to something that we used as a child...don't laugh, its success has been through "castor oil" infusion:

Drum roll......

:lachen::lachen: Cheaper and I'm a product junkie. The longer my hair, the more I need long-lasting moisturization and control, esp. for the ends. I figure that saving money this way is going to get me that Huetiful sooner. I refuse to spend money on that thing and have a ghetto-jack-leg moisturization technique instead. I love Spanish Sur Gro...have no problem with topical application of Vaseline. It's a pharmaceutical ingredient and has worked wonders in medicine. Deep pre-poo and post-poo conditioning? Mayonnaise+egg+olive oil+amla+coconut oil. Shrugs. I can no longer justify all the money I've wasted on the latest herbal fad (when there are products out there incorporating the herbals long before). I get too much thrill with fads. Call me crazy:lol: We shall see in a few months.

I say go for it, I'm curious to find out if you get the same results or better than what you were using previously.

I say do what works for you...I put my Christine Gant pomade on my ends/underneath is a moisturizer & ceramide/That works for me...

Happy Hair Growing!

I'm sure your hair will be fine. I have coconut and olive oil in my kitchen at all times anyway and castor oil is easy to find in drugstores, walmart, indian markets, etc., but I don't go out of my way to pay a lot of money for "exotic" hair products. Do what works for you.

So far, so good. It seriously pushes out growth faster tho, cuz I'm having to henna more often. But no clogged, greasy and itchy scalp. In fact, I added some of my left-over Indian castor oil to the Sur Gro to help get rid of all these products. I want to get down to 4 total such as shampoo, conditioner, pre-poo conditioner, leave-in.

I completely understand where you're coming from OP...I tried doing the whole moisturize/seal thing, and it worked wonderfully, but I still felt like I was neglecting my scalp. In reality, my hair was moisturized, but after using grease for so many years and then quitting cold turkey, it felt like I was missing something in my regimen. It was bugging me so much that I started "greasing" my scalp with Qhemet along with m/s-ing. Now I feel so much better psychologically lol :yep:

If it works for you then go for it in the end you have to do what works for your hair. Couple a months ago I actually tried to return to grease however my hair did not like it. RIght now JBCO works for me and I love it.

I feel you. Oil never stays on my scalp, i feel like it evaporates immediately after applications. Im using some lady's homemade grease that has biotin and some other herbal stuff in it. I added megatek and jbco to it

It feels like a psychological issue to me too. I'd stop greasing my scalp for a while & thought my hair was fine with it. Then I noticed that my scalp started feeling dry. Not greasing my scalp didn't affect my growth or length retention, but I still missed doing it somehow.

I went back to grease a little while ago. I use the Growth Specifics Revitalizing Hair Balm, and I love it. The peppermint on my scalp feels so good, and my scalp isn't dry anymore. I ordered a jar of it yesterday.
